Titleist 909D3 Driver - Golf Review

MikeBabjak
While I have reviewed Titleist's 2 other new drivers the 909D2 and 909D Comp, I figured I would save what I thought was the best for last. The Titleist 909D3. Better players are going to love this club!

The Titleist 909D3 features a slightly smaller head than the above mentioned versions. At 440cc the club head is designed to create a mid launching and low spinning driver for the player with a faster club head speed, or those seeking a slightly lower trajectory off the tee.

The classic Titleist pear shape stays intact, and a deeper face gives the better player a very attractive club to look at before the ball is hit. The deeper face will also allow for more choices in shot shaping, especially when hitting a fade or a lower shot into the wind.

Like the other 909 models, the 909D3 features a number of shaft options which can be fine tuned with the rear weight screw on the sole of the club to ensure a perfectly matched club no matter what shaft you choose to install in it.

The very first thing I noticed about this driver is how much better the D3 looks than last years 907 D2 driver. The smaller head, deeper face, and slightly different paint color make this a very pretty club to set down behind the ball, and at the same time adding the confidence that you will be able to do whatever your game is capable of doing to a golf ball off the tee!

Hitting balls, I noticed this club loved hitting a soft cut time and time again. I could hit it straight, or draw it, but I felt I got the best feel, constant ball flight, and control out of hitting a little 5 yard fade over and over again. Like most Titleist drivers, this is by no means a distance club, but it gets the ball out there plenty far enough, and the control you have over the ball with this driver far out weights the few yards you will be loosing.

For anyone who has stuck with Titleist drivers, this is a no brainer, but for those looking for a little more traditional looking club head that will allow you to work the ball in today's super high MOI world, I suggest giving the Titleist 909D3 a try!

Stay tuned for my 909 fairway and hybrid reviews!
