TLC Debuts Kate Plus Eight Featuring the Gosselin Family

TLC cable network is debuting Kate Plus 8, the new series featuring controversial TV mom Kate Gosselin on Sunday, June 6, 2010. Kate Gosselin is well known for the now defunct reality TV show 'Jon & Kate Plus 8,' which starred Jon and Kate Gosselin and their eight children, consisting of a set of twins and a set of sextuplets.

The Gosselin family was well known for the reality cable series, Jon & Kate Plus Eight, but their fame exploded when the couple announced that they were divorcing in June of 2009. When the couple famed for a family show announced they were splits ville, they became headline news in mainstream media. Suddenly, everything the newly separated couple did was news of national interest.

Jon Gosselin took the low road,. dating younger women, acting like a playboy and announcing that he could not stand 'that woman.' Kate Gosselin appeared on television interviews with tears in her eyes, saying she missed the 'old Jon.' The divorce proceeded and became increasingly acrimonious as the world watched.

While the couple made an excellent living off of their TLC fame, they became critical of the paparazzi, photographers that followed their every move. Kate even danced to the Lady Gaga song 'Paparazzi' during her stint in Dancing With the Stars.

After the couple divorced, Kate metamorphosed into a more glamorous looking mom. The strange hockey mom haircut was gone, replaced by hair extensions. She famously competed on ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars,' but was eliminated from the dance competition about half way through.

Kate is moving on without Jon in the new TV ventures. In 'Kate Plus 8,' she will be followed in her life as a single mom. In the premiere episode, Kate will take the Gosselin children to Orlando, Florida to celebrate the 6^th birthday of the sextuplets. Kate tries to surprise the kids while managing the logistics of the trip. The family feeds the sting rays at Discovery Cove, swims with the dolphins, feeds exotic birds, rides in an air boat, sees the Everglades and more.

Following the premiere of Kate Plus 8, TLC will give air 'Inside Kate's World,' a look into the many changes in Kate's life following the abrupt end of Jon & Kate Plus 8. The show covers extreme makeovers, Dancing With the Stars, press tours and interviews.

TLC will debut new Kate Plus 8 episodes on Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET.
