TMNT: Movie Star Turtles Return to Stores!
An Affordable Gift that Children Will Love for the Holidays
Judging by their appearances, these figures carry a gritty look to them partly due to their grins and reptilian skin. Their skins actually have pores which is pretty amazing considering they originally released in 1991. TMNT toys nowadays do not have those features which makes these particular figures even more exclusive to collectors. There were only six different characters released from this line which included the four turtles, Splinter, and a Foot Clan Member. Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Donatello were of course given reptilian rubber skin since they turtles are indeed reptiles. Splinter was given a fur coating around his plastic body. The foot soldier on the other hand was made of regular plastic since he was the only non-mutant of the set. Most of these figures have ball joints that allow you to move their limbs 360 degrees as well as diagonally. The figures stand about four and half inches each with Michelangelo being the shortest turtle at 4.25 inches.
These toys would make awesome gifts for kids who love the Ninja Turtles and action figures in general. I would not recommend them for children who are under age five because the figures themselves come with miniature weapons that can be easily swallowed. If there was one character every child should start their collection with, it would have to be Movie Star Michelangelo. He is the turtle that resembles his movie counterpart the most. Leonardo would be possibly second on that list since his reptilian skin is the glossiest of the four.
Details regarding the figures' release were obtained from Toyfare Magazine.
Characters are based on Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics.
