TMZ Releases Jasmine Fiore's Death Photos

On Sunday August 23 2009, TMZ released a photo of Jasmine Fiore's body. The grainy picture seems to have been taken at the crime scene. As I pondered the fact that this unfortunate women was murdered by someone whom she once loved, the horror of someone being so callus as to take a photo of her violated body and display it for money sickened me to the point of physical illness.

I understand that Jasmine Fiore was a celebrity model and that she had posed in Playboy at one point, but that does not take away the fact that in this tragic crime she has been made a victim, twice.

While I respect the right of any media outlet to print the news, I question the morality of showing something so grizzly for the sake of ratings. I am sure TMZ will show the photo on their TV show as they have on their Internet site. I guess no one at TMZ has a daughter or child to empathize with the horror of knowing your child was brutally murdered.

TMZ attitude towards crimes against women is normal. The media does tend to ignore domestic violence against women until the victim is brutally murder. According to the U.S. Department of Justice 64.5 % of the women murdered are murdered a loved one.

I think that TMZ has forgotten in their quest for money that this woman is someone's child and she lived a short but bright life. She was murder at 28. This grizzly crime is such that her murderer mutilated her body to the point they had to use the serial numbers on her breast implants to identify her. Who is decrying this crime other than her heartbroken family?

Instead, TMZ see fit to show her as she was found and not as she had lived. I can only hope that we can learn from this exploitation of this poor woman that crimes against women are unacceptable. Especially since her killer has not be brought to justice.
