TMZ Tiger "Kobe Special" Quote Made Before Mistress Pictures Included Gloria Allred

Analyzing "Kobe Special" TMZ Tiger Comment in the Wake of Gloria Allred Joining Forces with Rachel Uchitel

Sylvia Cochran
Alleged Tiger Woods mistress pictures of Rachel Uchitel might have spawned the TMZ Tiger quote of having to get a "Kobe Special" from Zales. Now that Gloria Allred joined the fray, will it hurt or help Tiger Woods?

TMZ Tiger Quote Mentions "Kobe Special"

TMZ -- a celeb gossip blog and show that gets it right more often than not with insider sources in the most close-knit families - quotes Tiger Woods as discussing the purchase of a "Kobe Special" with another party on Friday. The "Kobe Special," as you may remember, refers to the $4 million 8-carat diamond ring the L.A. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant gave to his wife after being publicly accused of raping a 19 year young Colorado hotel employee. As reported by People, Mrs. Bryant eventually forgave Kobe, who admitted to adultery but denied rape.

Tiger Woods Mistress Pictures Feature Rachel Uchitel (thanks, Ashley Samson!)

Good, bad or indifferent, there is no denying that Rachel Uchitel - in part because of her featuring front and center in alleged Tiger Woods mistress pictures - is garnering a huge amount of public scrutiny. Initially broken by the National Enquirer, the Tiger Woods mistress pictures did not show a flattering depiction of Rachel Uchitel. One of the most damning witnesses against her is one-time friend Ashley Samson, who not only names Ms. Uchitel as Tiger Woods' mistress, but also readily offers the National Enquirer copious private details.

TMZ Tiger Quote Too Little Too Late?

The "Kobe Special" TMZ Tiger comment could not come at a better time. Alleged Tiger Woods' mistress pictures will soon not only include Rachel Uchitel but also Gloria Allred - as reported by the SF Gate's City Bright Blog -- a self proclaimed feminist lawyer as adept at playing the media as Leonard Bernstein at directing an orchestra. Yet there is another reason why Gloria Allred may make Rachel Uchitel pictures much more meaningful: Ms. Allred is one who loves the spotlight but at the same time is highly tuned against being used in a publicity stunt.

If she finds that Tiger Woods mistress pictures featuring Rachel Uchitel amount to harassment, she may succeed in holding the National Enquirer's feet to the fire. Concurrently, it may force Tiger Woods to answer a subpoena and testify. While he has been successfully putting off the police after his car accident, he will not be able to avoid Gloria Allred, Esquire. TMZ's Tiger quote involving the "Kobe Special," on the other hand, might give her pause and err on the side of caution against calling Woods into court.

@Sylvia: As how really well this article will do good in appearing in search engines like Google -- thanks to AC -- you used a lot of regurgitated news regardless of the fact that you gave credit to your sources credit.

His argument is that this kind of writing -- the ones that get featured on AC -- get the same amount of attention from people who go to credible news sites that have actual staffers and do their own reporting (interviewing sources, making phone calls, etc.).

You have done none of that; that's what he's trying to "accomplish".

Found this from the Slate article that is linked in Associated Content's Wikipedia entry references. Funny how well-written this is. Hmm... guess the Slate writer didn't do enough research?

I was also redirected here from Slate's article. They must be your best refferal.

Well that Slate article is sending you more PVs - both to this article and to your profile - even if the author did dis it. He seemed to completely miss the fact that AC isn't all about news.

Thank you all for stopping by and for commenting! @Kenny: I don't know what bothers me more, the factural inaccuracies at the Slate article you mention or the writer's apparent need to attack me personally in the hopes of accomplishing ... what?

  • Kenny12/12/2009

Wow, Slate magazine says this is a prime example of AC's "wastland of bad writing."
