To the Armed Forces Who Serve

Happy Veterans Day

Lloyd Gavin
Sometimes life sweeps us along in one of its swift currents we forget important things we must honor. I recall a day I was in another town on the eve of my anniversary, so caught up in deciding to make a quick visit to a city I had always wished to visit, that I forgot the next day was my anniversary. Thoroughly engaged in supplying the necessary data for a visa, I encountered the space requesting the date. It was only then that I realized I had lost track of something more important than the dream trip.

As fast as I could gather my things, I was on the next flight home. My wife and I celebrated the anniversary in a very nice restaurant. Saving that anniversary was a gift from modern travel. More humbling was the fact I had forgotten my anniversary because I was fully engaged in myself.

Today is another important occasion I will not forget.

Happy Veterans Day 2010 : To those who served and to those serving. I hold your service in the highest esteem. I wish I could say it so you would know it is from my innermost being when I say, "Your sacrifice is valued and appreciated."

So again I say, Happy Veterans Day !
