splintered in the dirt
the promises and momentum
spent for nothing
while enemies advance.
To be a broken bow
string trailing in the dirt
just a curve of wood and bone
abandoned like a dream.
But oh, to be a broken sword
left rusting in the mud
despite your past victories
you are only as sharp as your blade.
