To My Daughter

Kay Adams
To my daughter, you are so great
You're beautiful, and funny, and named after a state
When you were born, we were so thrilled
So much love and laughter, our hearts were truly filled
I couldn't stop staring, you made me so proud
Putting you down just wasn't allowed
You were the happiest baby, you always had a grin
When you started teething you chewed on Grandma's chin
As you've grown older, your personality shines even more
Life with you has never been a bore
I remember so much, my head is filled with glee
I thank you so much for coming here to me
I close my eyes and dream of holding that baby again
I open them up, crying, to realize you're almost ten
