To Fall or to Fly

Amanda RM
I met my instructor
And went to train
And then we went
To board the plane

A group of jumpers
Ready to dive
And then embarked
On the twenty minute ride

Soaring high
Into the clouds
Rattled nerves
But eager nonetheless

As we neared the peak
The door flew open
And I told myself
"Let the fall begin"

As I went out the door
And began the descent
I thought to myself
"Where's my mind went?"

A few flips
Then a level out
The experience was nothing
Like what I thought

As I saw the clouds
Passing by
I thought to myself
"Is this what it's like to fly?"

Then the chute opened
And I began to glide
Something I'd never
Done in my life

I reached the ground
And began to slide
And so I question
Did I fall or did I fly

Great poem. I'd love to skydive sometime, but don't know if I have the nerve!
