To Be Just Who I Am

Phylis

Oh, to be young once more!

To be so full of dreams,

To be naïve and innocent,

Life bursting at my seams.

Oh, to have such energy!

To burn with so much fire,

To have such thirst for knowledge,

Life scorching with desire.

Oh, to be so carefree,

To be so full of fun,

To be so....Oh, just wait a sec!

You know, my life's not done!

Oh, to be just who I am,

I still have lots of dreams,

Though wiser and less innocent,

Life still bursting at my seams.

I may not have that energy,

But I'm still full of fire,

I still have thirst for knowledge,

That fills me with desire.

I may not be as free from care,

As I was when I was young,

But don't you dare to count me out,

My song has not been sung.

Excellent! I'm 49 and still dreaming and planning on what I'm going to do next.

I agree! Wer can not count anyone out because of age...there are still dreams to be had and goals to made. I love this poem.
