Two years ago the list totaled 29. Now it's 79. It seems as though more and more companies are putting out "tainted weight loss pills" that will flat-out KILL you.

Finally, the FDA did the right thing by expanding its nationwide search and alert on behalf of consumers regarding weight loss pills that contain undeclared, active pharmaceutical ingredients. Simple stated, this means nobody should be purchasing or ingesting any of these products for weight loss unless you make plans for your funeral.

The suspect ingredient in these products include: sibutramine, rimonabant, phenytoin, phenolphthalein and bumetanide. Okay, I know these $500 dollar words are hard to spell let alone pronounce, but they are dangerous. The worst of this bunch are the last two words. Phenolphthalein is a suspected cancer-causing agent and bumetanide is a diuretic that if ingested enough could have you sitting of the toilet a long, long time. The FDA says these ingredients far exceed the requirement levels putting consumers health at risk. These "weight-loss" products, some of which are marketed as "dietary supplements," are promoted and sold on various Web sites and in retail stores. Some claim to be natural or contain only natural ingredients but actually contain harmful ingredients NOT listed on the labels. They're also illegal and not approved by any government regulatory source. You are cautioned to stop using any of the products listed herein. The list!

The FDA is underway with a recall to get this "junk crap" off the shelves but it could take months and many companies will go underground.
