Do you have a wart or warts that you want to get rid of? Many warts are not even painful except to look at. If they are on a part of your body that are noticeable then you may be ready to have them removed. You may or may not be able to do that yourself. Here are a few options you have to get rid of your warts.

If you decide to try and get rid of your warts yourself you can do that. A trip to your local grocery store or pharmacy can provide you with over the counter wart removers. These can be as cheap as $1 a piece for a stick on band aid like patch to place on the wart. Follow the instructions and give it some time to see what happens.

You can also go online and seek out some advice from home remedies that have worked for other people. If you have any know allergies be mindful of those when trying any home remedies. You will find some interesting stories of what people have used at home to get rid of warts. Aloe Vera gel, apple cider vinegar and band aids every night before bed, elderberry extract taken internally, castor oil, garlic and a band aid, and many more. Of course another common method of wart removal is to go to a doctor and have them either burned off or cut out. A dermatologist who specializes in removing warts can do this many times in just one or two visits. If you have decent health insurance you may not have to pay any more than your normal deductible or office visit charge. Here is what you can expect if you go to a doctor to have your wart removed.

- The wart and the area around it will be cleaned. The doctor may give you numbing medicine so you will feel little pain.

- The treatment will take from 15 to 30 minutes.

- In cryotherapy, an extremely cold fluid such as liquid nitrogen will be applied to the wart. You may feel a mild sting and the area may turn white.

- In electrocautery, a tool with a thin, needle-like, hot tip will be touched to the wart. The area around the wart may look as though it is bubbling.

- After the tissue has been killed, your doctor may remove the dead skin and may send a sample to the lab for tests.

- The doctor may cover the area with a bandage and give you instructions for taking care of the area. You may need another treatment if the wart reappears.

As you can see, you have a number of different options, when it comes to having your wart or warts removed. Before heading to your local drug store, making your own home remedy, or scheduling a doctors appointment, you are advised to take the time to fully consider all of your options. As mentioned above, it is the best way to find the wart removal method that is best for you and your personal situation.
