Inertia bound

till roots parch
and shrivel,
.
leaves fall
in crackling heaps,
.
branches crack
and splinter,
.
bark curls and
sloughs away,
.
and ring by ring
the knotted pillar
crumbles . . .
rotted, soft.
.
Lightning strikes
the dry stump . . .
.
one last blaze
.
to ashes.

I just love your poetry.
Wonderful writing!
Beautiful and melancholy.
It's interesting how it seems to slowly decay and then suddenly it goes out in a blaze of glory. Oddly this poem parallels the situation in Egypt right now. Great piece, Tina.
Too long a wait indeed. It reflects itself as we go through the stages. Deep thoughts, Tina - siva
