Toasted Marshmallow Day: August 30th

Lori Piper
Do you know what August 30th is? Do you? It is-are you ready? It is National Toasted Marshmallow Day!!!! Now that is a day to celebrate. I do not mean that it should be regaled as a National Holiday and people everywhere could stay home and toast marshmallows, but still, after work and after school- who is to stop the celebrating? Not me. I will be too busy toasting up marshmallows and melting chocolate to make s'mores with my children.

How can you celebrate the lovely bizarre observance day? The aforementioned S'mores would be one way to go. Here are some other ways. Take you pick and enjoy the day!

Ways to Enjoy Toasted Marshmallow Day #1)

Eat some marshmallows. Just because the day is in observance of toasted marshmallows, it does not negate the fact that one can celebrate however one desires. Go ahead eat some marshmallows. Feeling guilty, eat them with an apple.

Ways to Enjoy Toasted Marshmallow Day #2)

Make a toasted marshmallow shake. Yes I am being serious. It is August after all and still summer. Mix up some vanilla ice cream and marshmallows. Top with some toasted over the stove. Talk about yummy and gooey. Feeling adventurous? Add coke or root beer and make it a float. Alternate out the vanilla ice cream with chocolate or strawberry ice cream. Have it, be creative.

Ways to Enjoy Toasted Marshmallow Day #3)

Pick up a bottle of toasted marshmallow syrup. That is a new one on me; I may have to add that to my celebratory snacks. Imagine syrup just for toasted marshmallows!!!

Ways to Enjoy Toasted Marshmallow Day #4)

Marshmallow treats are an easy way to celebrate. The marshmallows are not toasted but melted, but I am not a picky person. Are you?

Ways to Enjoy Toasted Marshmallow Day #5)

Sweet potato casserole with toasted marshmallow topping. Come on, it is not just for Thanksgiving anymore. Oh all right I will admit, I prefer my sweet potatoes marshmallow free, but you might enjoy it.

Ways to Enjoy Toasted Marshmallow Day #6)

A dessert to try that is not all about chocolate is a toasted marshmallow coconut cake. Now that sounds yummy for those who enjoy coconuts, me, not being one of them, but my father does. Maybe I will make one and take it to him. After all this is a day for everyone to celebrate.

Ways to Enjoy Toasted Marshmallow Day #7)

Enjoy as a topper over brownies drizzled with caramel sauce.

Now what exactly is this concoction that you are celebrating? Marshmallows are gooey sugary treats. Technically they are considered soft candy. Were you aware that they come from a plant, the marshmallow root? Plants are nature, implying natural so marshmallows must be good for you, right? Although, yes, marshmallows do contain high amounts of sugar, they are a low fat food and provide plenty of carbohydrates. See, good for you-okay, if used sparingly. But this holiday only comes along once a year, so enjoy!
