Ingredients that you will need;
1 eight pack of Safeway five cheese garlic bread (sliced 8 count)
1 small can of pineapple tidbits (or your favorite topping)
I small can of tomato sauce
1 small bag of shredded mozzarella cheese
1 container of Parmesan Cheese
Italian seasoning (or oregano)
*Before getting to the recipe I would like to share with you some variations on ingredients that you may use so everyone can enjoy this recipe!
Any brand of cheese garlic bread will do, even if you want to make your own. However, than the recipe isn't as fast as and convenient as with the frozen cheese garlic bread.
You may vary the toppings on top of your mini pizzas. Popular choices are sausage, pepperoni, green, yellow, or red peppers. mushrooms, chicken, ground beef, onion, cheese only, and just about any vegetable you might like. My favorite is pineapple.
As far as tomato sauce, I just use the small cans and add my own seasonings, However, you may want to use leftover spaghetti sauce you have made, or one of the major brands. You may also substitute Alfredo sauce. Spinach goes great with the Alfredo sauce.
You may use any type of cheese you prefer. Mozzarella is the traditional type cheese for pizzas, but you can be creative, and use provolone, jack, pepper jack, or whatever your favorite is. Some people even like cheddar on pizza, I do not.
The seasonings are up to you and what you prefer. I myself prefer the oregano, it goes well with the pineapple. Don't be afraid to spice it up with some ground red pepper if you like things Hot!
Okay, now we are ready to start with those little toasty pizzas:
Start with the bread frozen. On top of the frozen bread place one tablespoon of tomato sauce (adjust to your taste). Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of sauce, and whatever seasonings you like. The seasonings taste better when put on top of the sauce instead of on top of the mozzarella. Then place pineapple tid bits on top of the sauce. Put enough pineapple to enjoy, but not to overwhelm the pizzas. Sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella. Place in 350 degree oven. Adjust temperature to your oven. Because the bread is frozen you don't want to brown the top before cooking the bread all the way through. In my convection toaster oven they usually take about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on them and just as the cheese is just barely beginning to slightly brown, remove from oven. The edges and bottom of the bread should be lightly toasted.
There you have it a really quick, inexpensive and delicious snack for eight people. Or four dinners with a salad or side dish for four people. Go wild and creative, add your favorite toppings, and experiment with all different kinds of sauces. Nothing could be easier, quicker, and more delicious!
