A friend of mine and I went to Toby Keith's Bar for dinner and we stayed for the atmosphere and the show. We went around 9pm and we were hungry!
What we ordered: She ordered a chicken sandwich and I ordered the fried catfish. The fried catfish came with 2 sides and I choose fried okra and mashed potatoes. It also came with cornbread and honey rolls. We also both ordered a signature drink off the menu called The Toad Suck Park, (I used to live in the town that has the Toad Suck Park for which the drink is named) which is a really great drink featuring midori, vodka, rum and pineapple juice. Everything was good. My friend said her sandwich and fries were excellent, the catfish was good wonderfully and didn't taste fishy as catfish not cooked in the south sometimes does. The okra and mash potatoes were yummy. I could have done without the honey roll as it was a bit dry-and their cornbread was passable but not as good as some I have had. But all in all the food was very much worth what we paid for it. The Toad Suck Drinks were so good that we ordered another round.
More about the Food: I have also on a previous occasion had their nachos witch is an appetizer which was very good ($8.99) and the All-American burger which was one of the better hamburgers that I have eaten out and believe me I have eaten a few hamburgers in my time ($9.99). Other things on the menu include pull-pork sandwich, a fried bologna sandwich (put on the menu by Toby Keith himself and is incidentally their biggest seller), various salads, bbq ribs, chicken and steak. The menu has all the fine fixins' of southern cuisine. For sides they feature, cole slaw, potato salad, cream corn, turnip greens (of course), freedom fries (no French Fries here!), baked beans, green beans, cheesy cheddar grits, fried okra, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes and cheese and macaroni. And if you want desert after all that they feature southern fried Twinkies, pecan praline cheesecake, peaches and cream, fruit pie of the day, strawberry shortcake, brownies and bananas, and toffee caramel crunch sundae. None of which I have had the pleasure to try, but it makes me wish the restaurant was closer to where I live so I could drop by for desert! They also feature several other signature drinks besides the toad suck, and I have tried the Southern Kiss, which has Southern comfort, coke and amaretto in it, but I like the toad suck better.
The Cost: Our bill came to $66, keep in mine that $36 of that was our 2 rounds of toad sucks that cost us $6 a glass. My friend's sandwich was $10.99 and my catfish was only $14.99. I don't think that is overly expensive for what we had to eat or drink.
The atmosphere: We went for the food and stayed because of the atmosphere. When we arrived at 9pm, the live band of the night, The Tony Marques Band, was just gearing up. Seems that the bar has a live band every night from 9-2. These guys put an amazing amount of energy into their performance given that it was a Thursday night. There were plenty of happy people on the dance floor including my friend and me. The band played some good covers of popular country songs including a Toby Keith song or two-they even took requests and played a song for my friend and me. The wait staff was friendly, the people in the bar where friendly, and it seemed a good time was had by all. So if you are in Las Vegas and looking for either good food or a good time then drop by Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill.

Post a Commentwe went in March (after tax refund) my husband had never been to Vegas. Anyway the trip wasn't easy for me cause of an Optic Nerve Stroke in Feb. All the doctors encourage me to keep travel plans, so we did. By far going to The Bar and Grill was my favorite place at Harrahs to visit. When we got home I was dignosed with Progressive MS and under treatments now....BUT hopefully the tax refund will pay our way back next year and this time we are staying at Harrah's cause of Toby's place !!!!!! Recommend it even if it is loud.comeon its a bar!!!! LOL
