Today

A Poem

Today I dyed the color back into my hair

and cut it short like grown women do

And then I bought a whole new wardrobe

With matching shoes and purses

Today I walked along the streets

And did not look over my shoulder

I did not worry about anything

You can no longer hurt me; I am free

Better late than never.
