Today, regardless of what day of the year it is, it is Christmas day. Christmas is a day of celebration, a day to celebrate Christ. To remember what Christ gave for us on the cross and to give to others based on what Christ did for us.
Today is also Thanksgiving, we can give thanks for the blessings Christ has bestowed upon us. Some of these blessings are: Salvation, life, health, family and friends.
When someone cares about you, gives you a sandwich, takes you lunch or breakfast. Prays for you, reads the scripture with you or even just talks to you, it is a time to give thanks and to celebrate. These are forms in which people have ministered to you.
While there is certainly nothing wrong with setting aside days for celebrating certain times. We should not limit our giving of thanks to what we call Thanksgiving day. Neither should we limit what the Birth, Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ did for us to just one day of the year.
People, myself included, have come to look forward to the presents receive on what we call Christmas Day. But really it should be a reminder to see what we can give to others. I do think my sister and brother-in-law still give with the intent of giving blessing when they give at Christmas. Christ gave his life for our sins, he took our punishment on the cross, so he gave more than we ever could.
God blesses us and gives to us every day of every year. Jesus is not only our Saviour, He is also our Lord and we should all serve him with gladness and thanksgiving in our hearts. A lot of us have accepted Jesus as our Saviour, but we refuse to accept him as our Lord. That includes a whole lot of preachers, including some popular ones.
See, Christmas, like Thanksgiving is an attitude. Christmas is Christ Mass, apparently mass means to celebrate, therefore we can celebrate Christ every day of our lives. We can give thanks for what God has given us every single day. What ever the Holiday (aka Holy Day) we can serve the Lord and our fellow man (including woman) with gladness at any time and on any day, and when you do that it is Christmas Day.
