Today I Finally Cleared My Inbox!

John Smither
For the majority of this past month my inbox has been consistently showing an alarmingly high number of unread emails. It has taken many days to delve through this slowly decreasing list, finally today I achieved my target of getting back on track and clearing this long line. To mark this I penned the accompanying poem.

At lunchtime today my inbox to me it said

That I now had zero emails unread

I would now have to think up a new thread

And get writing again, before I can go off to bed

Today finally my inbox I cleared

It felt good, I gave out and cheered

The ever growing unread list I had feared

I am so happy now they have all disappeared

As I begin again, at my desk I am sat

It had felt like a daily form of combat

To reduce the list a plan I would format

Would it work what odds for that?

A fresh day, a new beginning I need a task

Of what should I write to no one I ask?

All prepared with coffee, a full flask

I must get finished for I have the sun in which to bask

This is me, trying to clear, not only my inbox, but my unread AC faves stuff...and not doing a very good job of it. I gotta go do something else now. Chow. Deedow.

Yea! I know the feeling, to a lesser extent, I'm sure. When I've missed checking emails for a few days, there are sometimes 385 unread in my Inbox, & it scares me! Thankfully, many are notices of other AC writers publishing, & I can put it off. But I'm obsessive enough that I feel compelled to check all messages (not spam), so sometimes it takes days & new ones keep coming in! So I appreciate your tenacity & commitment, John! I was actually afraid this article would be abt the day you just deleted all our messages. (Selfish on my part to feel that way, 'cuz I sure can understand how it might reach that point!) Anyway, I felt relieved for you as I read this and hope you had a good "bask"! ; )

This reminds me of the movie where Jim Carey had like 50,000 unread emails! Good luck at your new home... :-)
