In hopes that steadfast I stay;
A writer of pages blacked up.
"How long will this time last?"
I say," Lord, please fill my cup."
I'm grateful that- at least I can write.
My house is a sight for soar eyes.
Will I get flies?
These things I surmise from the last-
Time I felt like this. I'd be remiss,
Not to say 'this' happens quite often
Not everyday- and
Though not quite in my coffin
For the pillows are of down,
And the thread count is quite high,
Yet- enough to make me sigh and say-
Today in bed is where I'll stay.
The pain so much to bear;
So I write this without care to,
The assignments that should be done
I cannot concentrate to write,
On and on in straight 'til night
With words that are work.
But I can write the words that come
Freely as if by some other,
Hand that doesn't ache;
Some other mind relaxed in state.
I cannot think but just to write,
What words come out as such they may.
But write I will on this same day,
Anything that comes to mind,
My comfort is I seem to find;
My rum for it, (this pain) in kind,
A plume.
Even if I feel the tomb,
From my bed today- tonight,
Steadfast may I ever write.
