2.) I watched Bill Cosby on Meet The Press Sunday Morning and I believe he will be appearing on the Oprah show later today. The book is called Come On People and I know that he's recently made some very controversial remarks about the state of Black America. Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum no one can ignore these men and their message. In Philadelphia there is a movement called www.10000men,com which is trying to take back the streets and take back the city for everyone who lives and works here. We cannot ignore these facts even if you love and work outside the city. The local economy just won't allow us to ignore the grizzly carnage of black on black violence. The violence on city streets seeps throughout the entire region and reached from the Delaware Valley to the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Unfortunately it take a celebrity like Mr. Cosby to wake us up to the obviously. Our nation simply will not survive, much less prosper until we get a handle on your culture, youth and adult violence and senseless hidden violence which is occurring in our society even behind white picket fences and on the manicured lawns of the best addresses.
3. ) I also saw an interesting story on the economics of ethanol production last night on the Nightly News with Brian Williams. It's been quite some time since I spent summers on a farm but I still identify somewhat with farmers of corn and wheat and all things authentically American. I wonder how and if small farms can survive in 2007, I wonder how we can feed our country and I wonder if the definition of Opportunity needs to change. I wonder if the definition of Urban needs to change,, I wonder what black and white teens across the country have in common, I wonder what tween girl and college aged women have in common these days or women my age.
4.) I saw a fascinating woman named Victoria Osteen on GMA this morning, Her husband has written an interesting book called A Better You but she also mentioned to Robin Roberts Diane Sawyer's co-host, that she'll have a book coming out in the Spring of 2008. What a great Christmas idea for next year to give them both as a companion set of books from the Lakewood ministry
