Todd Palin Affair Scandal: If He Cheated with Shailey Tripp, it Might Not Be so Bad for Sarah Palin

Todd Palin is caught up in a affair scandal involving allegations that he cheated on Sarah Palin. If there's any truth to this, it might not be as bad for Sarah Palin as you would think.

Of course it's important to take this story with a grain of salt, since it does come from the pages of "National Enquirer". The shock mag might have been right about the John Edwards affair scandal, but I'm not so sure about stories like one that Barack Obama is skinny because he has intestinal parasites, and theNational Enquirer was wrong about John Edwards and Rielle Hunter being engaged.

Anyway, the magazine is hit and miss when it comes to the truth, so it's very possible that Todd Palin didn't cheat on Sarah Palin by carrying on an affair with a massage therapist, and the "National Enquirer" could have gotten the idea for this story from Brett Favre's latest mess. The "National Enquirer" does name-drop, however, stating that the woman Todd Palin might have been cheating with is Shailey Tripp and that there are documents showing that she gave free massages to an anonymous person working for Sarah Palin's campaign.

Apparently Shailey Tripp was busted for prostitution, and the police are allegedly in possession of physical evidence that could tie Todd Palin to an extramarital affair. This news was spread via a mysterious E-mail stating that Shailey Tripp's affair with Todd Palin took place in March of 2010 and that it led to her arrest. The "National Enquirer" conducted its own investigation that found that Shailey Tripp was indeed arrested for prostitution in March 2010, but no hard evidence proving an affair took place has surfaced at this time.

The "National Enquirer" implies that Todd Palin having an affair would hurt Sarah Palin's political career, but I'm not so sure. Whether it's true or not, these allegations have got me thinking about the effect this news would have on the way people view Sarah Palin. I mean, if her husband did cheat on her, wouldn't she turn into something she's wanted to be for so long? She would become a victim that all Americans feel sorry for, another Sandra Bullock or Elin Nordegren. She would no longer have to defend herself; the "lamestream" media would do this for her. Everyone would feel terrible for Sarah Palin, and this could translate into a big turn-around in her popularity (especially when it's played up that Todd Palin cheated on her with a woman whose last name is the same as her grandson's first name).

Of course it's hard to imagine that Sarah Palin would want her husband to have an affair for her own political gain, and I doubt she wants to lose her "First Dude". But the really odd thing here is that she hasn't responded to the cheating allegations yet and is wasting another chance to be in the spotlight.
