- Do not have balloons at the party of your child is under 3. This poses a choking hazard and you do not want your child or the other guests to get hurt. If someone brings a balloon to the party that is okay, set the balloon out of reach until you can properly supervise your child with it.
- If you have a young child they are not going to remember what the theme is or what character's faces they saw on the walls. Try to do bold colors instead of Disney characters. Red, yellow, green, and blue streamers and wall decorations will hake a big hit while also saving you money.
- Don't order a fancy cake. Cakes get eaten and smashed into faces. Opt for cupcakes instead. Bake them yourself. Use white cake mix and food coloring to create red, yellow, blue, and green cupcakes. Top with white icing and let the kids pick what color cupcake they want. Easier for the kids to hold and eat. Furthermore, it frees up your hands for more important things because you do not have to stand and cut cake for a half hour.
- Hand out party favors that are age appropriate. Gift bags usually contain small toys and they are not suitable for children under 3 years of age. Try giving out bubble play sets, alphabet blocks, books, puzzles with large pieces, rubber ducks, water bottles, or tote bags. Something kid friendly and age appropriate.
- Make the party short and sweet. A child's attention span is not very long. Choose two activates for the children to do, maybe a craft to make depending on age, and then you got gifts and cake still. That should cover 2-3 hours. Make no task more than 30 minutes long to keep the interest of each child.
- When picking games stay with ones that are basic and simple. Pin the tail on the donkey, put the sunglasses on the doll, or other blindfolded games are a bit hit with the younger crowd. Try throwing bean bags into a premade chalk hopscotch for prizes. Something the kids will be able to do easily.
