Toddler Crafts! An Easy to Make Decoupage Vase

Does your toddler enjoy getting messy? Here's a simple toddler craft that will allow your child to "get their sticky on" while making something you'll proudly display year-round: a decoupage vase. Use tissue paper and decorative ribbon that reflects the current season or holiday, and you have a lovely handmade gift for that special neighbor or friend. With supervision, a toddler can successfully complete this gorgeous project in less than 30 minutes, and clean up is a cinch. The best part? You likely have everything you need to make a decoupage vase right on hand!

What you need to make a decoupage vase:

Spaghetti sauce sized glass jar (cleaned, with label removed)
Glue
Foam paintbrush
Tissue paper
Water
Small bowl
Spoon
optional: 20" decorative ribbon
optional: glitter

How to make a decoupage vase:

1. In a small bowl, mix four parts glue to one part water, stir. If mixture is watery, add more glue to thicken.

2. Stir glitter into glue mixture if desired.

3. Tear tissue paper into small pieces, any shape and size.

4. "Paint" a small section of glass jar with glue mixture, and cover with small tissue pieces. Continue until you've covered the jar with tissue paper. Cover jar with layers of tissue paper if desired.

5. Once jar is covered with paper, squirt glue all over jar. Spread glue evenly with a wet paint brush. This serves as a top coat and "sealer."

6. Adorn with a decorative ribbon that reflects the season or special holiday.
