Pat Anthony
American Eagle Outfitters is recalling 1,200 pair of toddler girl's pants and shorts because these have a metal clasp that could be a choking hazard for young children. This metal clasp is at the waist band. No reports of injury have been received.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, often referred to as CPSC, is recalling these clothing items in cooperation with American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. American Eagle is located in Pittsburgh, PA. However, these items were imported from China.

The shorts and pants being recalled are sold throughout the United States at American Eagle stores and online at 222.77kids.com. The garments are sold for $24 to $34, and were available from July 2010 and August 2010. The metal clasp that is thought to be a possible choking hazard for children can be seen in the photo included with this article.

The girl's pants and shorts are available in size 12 to 18 months through 5 years. Consumers who bought these pants or shorts online may request an envelope to return the items without mailing fees to get a refund by going to the company website. Those who purchased recalled American Eagle items at a store may return these to the store for a refund.

Consumers needing more information may call American Eagle Outfitters at 888-307-3672. Someone is available Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM. Information is also available at www.77kids.com.
