Tofu Scrambler Product Review: Product Information
Tofu Scrambler is low in sodium and fat and contains no trans fat. Alone, each serving provides one gram of protein, one gram of fiber and five carbohydrates. Because this product is a seasoning packet, the majority of the nutrition will come from the tofu used as the base for eggless scrambles and any additional ingredients, such as vegetables, that you add to the scramble.
Each box comes with two seasoning packets (each seasoning packet will season one 14 ounce package of extra firm tofu) and can be purchased online or in stores such as Whole Foods Market, Fred Meyer, and most natural foods stores for between $1.99 and $2.75, depending on the retailer.
Tofu Scrambler Product Review: Taste and Texture
The Tofu Scrambler seasoning packet contains, barley flakes, dried vegetables and a mix of rice flour, spices and soy sauce powder. Therefore, you will want to make sure you mix it thoroughly into the crumbled tofu to avoid having gritty spots of seasoning in your finished dish. I recommend crumbling the tofu into a mixing bowl and stirring in the Tofu Scrambler seasoning packet before putting the mixture into the frying pan (rather than mixing them in the frying pan, which many people tend to do when making tofu scrambles). This will ensure that it is mixed properly before cooking. As long as you do this, you will get a nice texture and appearance that may even fool some egg-eating folks.
As for taste, Tofu Scrambler is a great basic eggless scramble starter. If you are looking for an easy, one step method for making quick tofu scrambles, this product will fulfill that purpose well. I prefer a bit more spice, so I always add more salt and pepper when using this product, but considering that individual tastes vary, the amount of flavor and spice is appropriate and can be easily tailored to satisfy whomever you're cooking for.
Tofu Scrambler Product Review: Overall
Tofu Scrambler is a great, easy-to-use product that should be in every vegan or vegetarian pantry. Finding products that make tofu exciting can be quite a challenge, but this is a great place to start - particularly if you take advantage of some of the recipe ideas below.
Tofu Scrambler Recipe Ideas
Follow the cooking directions on the package and use 14 ounces of extra firm tofu for each of these recipe ideas.
Try adding 1/8 to ¼ cup each of onion, green pepper and mushroom to add nutrients and great flavor to this already delicious dish.
Or, for a bit more bite and some cheesy goodness, add 2 tablespoons of minced jalapenos and 1 cup of shredded vegan jack cheese.
For a spicy, Mexican breakfast add a ½ package of Soyrizo™ (vegan chorizo) and serve with warm tortillas.
Or, try adding 1/8 cup onion and soy sauce (or tamari or Bragg's) to taste.

Post a CommentThis seasoning sounds what I've tried to find again. But didn't see where to order, and would like a pic to see if it's what I used several years back. Two healthfood stores did not have it.
Where could I see the packet before ordering, and from where?
