We own a house,
A farm,
And the accumulated clutter of life.
Together
We have lived over 20 years,
Through smiles,
Tears,
Celebrations,
Heartaches,
Triumphs,
Losses,
Good days
And bad.
Together
We have a son,
A wonderful,
Sensitive,
Caring,
Gifted,
Perfect child,
Rapidly turning into
An equally wonderful
Young man.
Together
We are rich
In many ways
That others might envy.
Together
We were best friends,
A force to be reckoned with,
Strong and secure.
When did we begin
To take each other for granted?
When did our individual
Needs and
Wants
Become more important
Than our love
For each other?
Together
We raise our son,
Pay our bills,
Eat our meals,
Go through the motions
Of life
Together...
And every night
We go to bed
Alone.
