One More Milestone in an Amazing Career/Life

"Tom Brady wins 100th NFL game, Oct. 4, 2010, Miami" was not the kind of announcement people were perhaps expecting when Brady was drafted in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL Draft. It didn't take Patriot fans long to discover what a diamond in the rough this Michigan alum really was. Since 2000 Brady has engaged and dazzled New England fans with his activities both on and off the field, making it hard for the news "Tom Brady wins 100th NFL game, Oct.4,2010, Miami" to seem anything but another day at the office.

On the field Brady's statistics over the last decade have been nothing short of awe inspiring. According to official Patriots team record keepers, Brady entered the 2010 season with a wide vareity of accomplishments under his belt besides the remarkable three out of four Superbowl Championships that the Pats won with Brady as QB. For example Brady's touchdown to interception ratio at 2.27 is the best in NFL history, end of story. Brady won 76 out of his first 100 starts with the Patriots that tied an NFL record held by Roger Staubach, not too shabby company. Brady also joined 3 Hall of Fame quarterbacks as the fourth QB in NFL history to be named a Superbowl MVP multiple times. And the list goes on.

Off the field Brady has been a constant magnet for photographers and news writers because of his good looks, laid back personality and of course the women on his arm. Now a married man with a family, Brady continues to attract media attention everywhere he goes. Most recently, greater Boston airwaves were clogged with information surrounding a two car accident in which Brady was involved as he was driving to work. New Englanders gave a collective sigh of relief when their "star" emerged both unscathed and actually the victim of someone else's bad driving rather than delinquent himself.

Given the popularity and the accomplishments of Tom Brady it is hard for fans not to develop a sort of "ho hum" attitude when Brady latches on to another NFL record. When Miami errors, outstanding Patriots defensive, superior special teams play and offensive accuracy resulted in Tom Brady winning his 100th NFL game, there wasn't a lot of wild celebration on location because the game was played in Miami before a disappointed local crowd. But the event didn't go unnoticed back in New England. There it was recognized that not only was this his 100th career win but that Brady had also arrived at that special plateau sooner than any other player in NFL history. Amazing!!!

Something as amazing as beating all other quarterbacks to the 100 win mark hasn't become old hat to fans quite yet. Instead many New Englanders, fresh from a long and trying Red Sox season which ended with the Red Sox missing out on the AL Playoffs, saw the 100th Brady win as a clear sign of how exceptional a quarterback Tom Brady is and how much he adds to their New England Patriots team.

Tom Brady winning his 100th NFL game is a reminder to all sports fans that Bob Kraft was a smart man to build a big stadium where this "star" could truly shine. Tom Brady winning his 100th NFL game exemplifies how he and his equally amazing coach, Bill Belichek, are able to fully focus their abilities to the fullest. Especially it tells fans, who may have lost track of his stature within the league, that Tom Brady is a man to be reckoned with and a man on a mission.

New England fans may or may not celebrate another Superbowl in the near future but they can depend on Tom Brady to use every football skill he has to achieve victory every time he steps out onto the field. He's Tom Brady, and just possibly he should have been drafted a little higher afer all!
