Tom Cruise to Make Peacemaking Presentation at the Oscars

Mottor
Give credit to Tom Cruise for trying hard. The actor has been working overtime in an attempt to help fix his damaged image. Cruise used to be one of the most liked movie stars of our generation. He then found scientology and became more annoying than Andy Dick. His outrageous behavior and insulting antics has turned a loyal fan base against him. Now he is trying to find that glimmer that made him so likeable.

The first step that Cruise took in fixing his career was reaching out to Ben Stiller. He wanted to team with Stiller in an upcoming theatrical release of the Hardy Boys. The movie would be a slapstick comedy based on the boys being all grown up. Cruise feels as if working in a comedy might allow fans to see his lighter side. This movie project would allow him to act goofy and make fun of himself at the same time. The ability to let the fans know you can make fun of yourself is a key ingredient to appearing humble. Cruise wants to establish this once again.

Breaking news has been reported in regards to another upcoming appearance by Cruise. In a further attempt to show that he can be normal and forgive others, he will be presenting an award at the Oscars. He will be presenting the Jean Hershold Humanitarian Award to former Paramount honcho Shrry Lansing. That is the same company that recently fired Cruise. The fact that he has agreed to present the award shows that Cruise is becoming more willing to put his ego to the side for awhile.

Cruise is not done there. He also announced recently that he is currently filming an all-star project. The name of the movie will be Lions for Lams. The movie revolves around the war on terror and features Cruise as a senator trying to manipulate a journalist (Meryl Streep) to help him. Many believe that the script is a hit, thus guaranting that the movie will most likely be a solid feature as well.

By the way, Tom Cruise has been a Scientologist since the 80's. So we all loved him and his movies for decades and he still was a Scientologist. It's not that he converted recently... So what is all this buzz about?

To Heather, second post: I don't remember in the Consitution anything like "trash and destroy someone who would use his freedom of speech." I'm from France, Pays des Droits de l'Homme (we know what we are talking about).Watch Fahrenheit 9/11 again."No one has to listen..."Don't" do something."Absolutly.So if you did listen,it's YOUR PROBLEM(and if you listened carefully, you'll know he didn't say 'don't do this',its the media). If it annoys you to the point to say someone is "nutso" because he doesn't have the same opinions than you, you are Intolerant. Not for the free speech you are talking about(what a sham).Nobody forced you to listen, and if you want to complain, do it to the media, after all, they are harrassing Cruise since more than 20years; asking him to talk about scientology and his beliefs. he refused and was called an hypocrit, who doesn't take responsability for his own choices and didn't have faith in his church!
Did you remember that? "Tom's not cool anymore."
    What about

To Joanna: he did presented in 2001, in 2002, he opened and made a great speech about peace, war and conflict etc, but it was really nice and he proved he got IT.

    heather, you are funny.
    quote:
"Anna was refering to Brian's comment about Tom/Britney competing for worst public image. He's right. They're both nutso and completely unworthy of the public's attention."

Oh we've got a psy here! can we have the proof you know anything on mental illness? because I don't think you know cruise; who are you to make judgement on other's people health?
and what's the 'fun'? 'nutso' for mentally ill, is like 'negro' for black person. Idiot, you should shut up and respect your fellows.
"Also, Anna, not sure where you're from but here in America, people can do what they want and are protected so long as they're not infringing upon the rights of others."
That is indeed what Tom Cruise did and was punished for, because NO: in America, you have no free speech (cruise proof again). I don't rem

Brian - ditto! Besides, who is Tom Cruise anyway that anyone should be the least bit interested in what he does or says? He is NOT a political leader or a spiritual leader. He plays no significant part in anything that is even remotely related to anything in my life. I'm so tired of the media making these loony-toons with issues THE NEWS! Great article. Well researched. Gave you five stars.

"Cruise used to be one of the most liked movie stars of our generation. He then found scientology and became more annoying than Andy Dick."

That was awesome! I almost sprayed my computer with coffee when I read that.

    Hi Steven,
I believe that Anna may have been thinking of when Tom Cruise presented the Oscars back in 20001, I think it was before the war began. Great article, by the way. I didn't know he was going to present again. I don't know about Tom Cruise. I still like him as an actor, of course but that stint on Oprah, still lays heavy on the mind as well as the Sciencetology thing. It's just too weird. My friends thinks we're all witnessing the beginning of the end for Tom Cruise. Anyway, great article. I look forward to reading more of your work. Bye

Steven--I read the article you posted in your sources, and I have to respectfully disagree with the lady who wrote the previous post. The article you have written here perfectly coincides with your source article. I don't know what was meant by "Tom already presented the Oscar before." He may have presented Oscars before, but he will be doing it during this Oscar show and presenting to Lansing. Even the source article says he's trying to fix his image, so it's not like you made it up or something. And when did you compare Tom to Spears? I must have missed that line. Anyway, GREAT ARTICLE! It drew me in, and makes me want to go watch the Oscars this year! I'll be looking for more articles to come, as it seems like you're on a roll lately. :o) Gave it a 5.

Hum, Tom ALREADY presented Oscar before.
It doesn't mean anything like "attempt to show that he can be normal and forgive others".
Also, the former Paramount honcho Sherry Lansing is Tom's friend, she respected him when she was at Paramount. They did great together, obviously.

I think cruise has some balls and say what he honestly think, knowing his opinion will make some people furious.

Don't compare britney Spears here. She is not relevant.

  • Brian Tubbs2/22/2007

Tom Cruise is a model of how a celebrity can so thoroughly destroy his own image in the eyes of the public. Although Britney Spears is now competing for that distinction.
