Tom Warren

Nine out of ten times you could bet that Tom Warren would seal a deal with any company he approached with those he represented. He was suave, shrewd and exceptional New York business consultant. Tom could advice you when the best time would be to sell or buy shares. And with his record in stocks you would dare not bet against his advice. You would have awesome returns. He was a business consultant to many companies and he was almost like an inside man in those companies.

Nobody in this world is perfect. Tom had an Achilles heel. In terms of business his record had no peers. No issue in business it seemed could floor him. His mettle in business birthed a cancer of pride. He changed priorities his family came last. The result was his youngest son became a societal wreck. His wife left him due to abuse. To be honest Tom was a "babe" magnet. You could not blame him for that after all who could resist the New Yorker's Midas touch of business success. No lady was too far for Tom to have.

Now enter a newspaper company the New York viper. It is owned by Tom's rival who started it after Tom had beaten the owner to a lucrative deal worth millions. Was the paper started to settle a vendetta for anyone who crossed the owner's path. The paper proves quite a hit with New Yorkers. Selling like hot coffee on a chilly morning. When the paper runs fabricated stories damning Tom's credibility he is livid. Tom decides to hit back with his business acumen to prove he is for real. He runs into some information that a gold company will float its shares at a good price. He could be right I mean the company is not like an oil company where prices are jumpy and unpredictable. Nobody in his or her right mind could bet against a gold minting company. The said company, it was claimed from some sources stored gold for celebrities and business moguls.

D-Day is here the gold company wants to float its shares in the NYSE and Tom is overconfident that his promise of good returns would pass. He is so overconfident that he gambled and attached all his property, to be seized by the gold company if the price per ounce did not hit 500 dollars. Around that day the gold company was transporting its gold to a newer "safer" location near the Hudson River. A less suspicious place, though the neighborhood has a lot of insecurity, and people go to work at 8 am after morning rush hour.

Remember Tom's son Leonard, he turned from a societal wreck to a street thug in the Hudson River locality. Leonard had been approached few days earlier by some thugs to with information on the gold voyage that day. When approached he jumps at the offer. So they begin to carry out the mission with Leonard as the getaway driver. Before they could even spot the vehicle with the gold, a police chase ensues prematurely. The mini truck he is driving is unstable and dangerous. As they approach an intersection the said gold truck now is almost at a convenient place for Leonard to spot it. Unfortunately due to the cops behind he opts to avoid it but it is too late he hits it. The armored vehicle spills its valuable gold contents for everyone in the area at 8 am to take. There is ensuing vehicle pile up as people scramble for the said "gold" that lies on the asphalt. It is a stampede. Middle income earners beggars are nearly being turned to millionaires while one millionaire in the NYSE will soon be turned to a beggar.

Now to the NYSE the news just in from TV channels Fox and CNN. They claim a man by the name Leonard Warren who was being sort by police had just died in a car crash. While a truck for the gold company trading that day just had an accident and gold was being looted. Before the gold could even be floated in the NYSE its demand falls to zero. Imagine now Tom is losing it. By it I mean his sanity. He lost his son to the crash and now his property is attached. He has nothing.

Flashback to that bitter business rival Tom screwed him for a multi-million deal. Was he working in cahoots with the thugs? How come nothing was heard of arrest of the other thugs in the mini-truck with Leonard? Some facts do not add up here. Was the said gold on the asphalt even real maybe not? Either way Tom has been brought to his knees his pride gone. No family, nothing is heard of his wife and the rest of his family. A nervous break down ensues, and I heard Tom was now committed for life in a mental institution in deeper Connecticut. Lost touch of what is more important in life. Had it all, lost it all. Then something happened in the mental institution.

Last week I heard something though that blew my mind. In that mental institution Tom met a cripple who read him the short Bible verses to try soothe his anguish. When the Bible was read to Tom, incidentally he became more at peace that when he was being counseled. Tom in limited knowledge in the Bible admitted something to that cripple. "Richard, when you read that book called the Bible, I have peace, and the words in that book are simple but give me peace. Do those words have some power or it is you hexing me unknowingly." Richard replied "I am not hexing you Tom; the Writer of these words gives people peace and rest with no partiality." "I think he would not like to have an audience with me considering I am a major league life screw up. Can you find out if I can meet Him?" Tom replied.
Then Richard explained to Tom how Christ gives people peace and second chances. When Tom even without fully understanding and knowing this Christ fully, asked Him to come into his' heart and forgive him. Tom two days later confessed and run around the mental institution confessing of the peace he has found in the person of Christ everyone was baffled. For the first time in years the guy Tom was happy and could sleep at night without nightmares. Well two weeks later Tom was discharged when the administrators decided his condition of stress and breakdown was reversed and completely changed. The administrators called it a miracle never witnessed there. Once released from the mental institution, Tom looked for his former wife asked for forgiveness, from a wife who had confessed years earlier that if she and Tom were to live in the same roof again, one of them would have to be dead. Strange things called miracles happen they are living together in one roof as man and wife and neither is dead.

Guess what Tom is back in the headlines on TV, not as the egotistical, prideful stock trader but as a hope minister. He and the wife are counseling people, and giving them hope to believe even in the direst hopeless situations Christ can rescue and redeem such situations. They do this through the testimony of their story of how Christ healed their hell on earth past and gave them peace and eternal hope.
