Tomaselli's Psychedelic Show in Prospect Heights

If you are a person who likes to stroll off of the beaten path, then you might want to catch Fred Tomaselli's show. His exhibit is running at the Brooklyn Museum in Prospect Heights, according to the NY Post.

Tomaselli is an artist who creates paintings involving collage and layers of epoxy resin. The materials he uses in his works garner a lot of attention. Tomaselli uses drugs such as marijuana leaves, pills, and hallucinogenic substances. Our modern society is so confused about drugs that Tomaselli's work raises eyebrows.

The artist is represented by White Cube Gallery in the UK and James Cohan Gallery in America. They describe his work as follows:

"Fred Tomaselli makes exquisitely rendered paintings on wood panels, combining an array of unorthodox materials suspended in a thick layer of clear, epoxy resin. Medicinal herbs, prescription pills and hallucinogenic plants are combined with images cut from books and magazines...(White Cube)."

"Tomaselli intentionally tries to confuse our perceptions of painted and collage forms, and this underscores the notion that perceptions can be deceiving (James Cohan)."

I viewed some of Tomaselli's prints online and they are definitely unique. Of course, the Internet lacks depth. I think his work would have to be seen in person to truly be appreciated.
