The solution is preaty straightforward for the majority of the cases (OK there are some instances in which obesity is genetics): Eat less, Move more. That is, make a habit to eat healthy food (low fat, high in complex carbohydrates) and do more exercise. But, instead of taking control of their bad eating habits, people are turning to gimmicks and fad diets- which in the the long-run may not be helpful.
There is a new scary weapon against obesity: tongue mutilation. Yes! you read right, tongue mutilation. The procedure which is fast and safe (according to the doctor who created it) is basically sewning a small mesh patch, about the size of a stamp, directly onto the tongue. This will make eating uncomfortable so you will not eat and hence lose weight. You will getting nutrient via a liquid diet.
Dr. Nikolas Chugay (the creator of the surgical procedure) claims that you will be able to lose about 20-30 pounds in a single month. The patch is removed after a month so the patient can go to a solid diet afterwards.
According to Chugay, this surgery is cheaper (compared to other weight loss surgeries, like gastric bypass or the lap-band,) since it coast only $1500. Also, it is reversible, requires local anesthesia and lasts only 10 minutes.
I don{t know about you but I believe that this is a pretty bad idea. I believe that all the weight loss during the tongue sacrifice will be gained back once you remove your tongue patch and can go back and eat unhealthy as before. This type of procedure sure will gain acceptance amongst the legion of obesity sufferers but for sure it is not a good solution to obesity. I have a better idea that may gain popularity to lose weight:
Why don't we amputate hands so we can not eat anymore? (come on just kidding!!!!)
