Tony Chachere's Creole Brown Gravy Mix Review

Tfurby
Tony Chachere's is well known for it's Creole Cuisine, but this is the first time that I have seen Tony Chachere's brown gravy mix. I had to try it. The price was right $1.89 for a 10 ounce container that makes an impressive 20 cups. I couldn't wait to get home and try it out with the beef tips and rice dish that I was planning on preparing for dinner.

The directions we're quite simple. Just whisk 2 tablespoons of the Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy mix to 1 cup of cool water. Bring to a boil, stirring often. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring often, for 1 to 2 minutes or until the desired consistency is reached. You can't get any easier than this!

I did find that I needed to add a little more of the Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy mix, to get the gravy thick enough. You might not need to though, I just like my gravy a litter thicker than this turned out to be by using Tony Chachere's directions.

The Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy was a hit. It was rich and flavorful, not too salty like some of the instant brown gravies tend to be. It was the perfect compliment to my beef tips and rice dish. Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy is very easy to prepare and inexpensive. These two things are very important to my way of thinking.

Lets take a look at the nutritional value.

A serving is described as 1 & ½ teaspoons.

This seems to be a healthy low calorie, low fat gravy that really tastes good. I know one thing though...I eat a lot more gravy than a little 1 & ½ teaspoons.

Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy mix may be served in any situation that you would need a gravy or get creative. I have already mentioned beef tips and rice, it tastes wonderful in this dish. Try a couple of teaspoons of Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy mix in a beef stew, to make a rich savory broth. Then there is of course the traditional method of pouring generously over the top of your favorite mashed potato or rice dish.

Lets compare the price. A typical package of instant brown gravy mix makes one cup and costs an average of 89 cents a package. Multiply this by 20 cups that you get with Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy mix, for a total of $17.80, as opposed to the $1.89 that the Tony Chachere's Creole brown gravy mix will cost you. Quite a savings isn't it?
