Louiville's No. 1 Restaurant......to Stay Away From

On November 16, 2006, I went to dinner with three other friends of mine at Tony Roma's in Louisville Kentucky, at 150 N Hurstbourne Pkwy. When we arrived at around 6:30pm, we got a very prompt service from the hostess and were greeted with a smile. We only had to wait maybe five minutes for our table and then we were quickly and friendly seated.

Once seated out server came over again very friendly and greeted us and took our drink order. We got our dinks promptly and then our server took our order quickly and we received a smile and a thank you.

While we were waiting for the food we took in the atmosphere. Very lovely, the bar had an awning over it to give it its own building effect. Along the back walls there were mirrors to make the place look bigger. The tables were spaced apart very comfortably. Along the walls in the lobby were all sorts of awards for their rib's, and their slogan for best ribs. The booth we sat in was very comfortable and the spacing between the seats and the table was more then enough.

When our food came the whole experience changed. Guest number one ordered their BBQ chicken sandwich. It was very gritty and tasted like they had dropped a whole chicken, bones, beak, feet, and all, into the blender for the sandwich. Guest number two ordered their tortilla soups and the waiter brought out potato soup. He then brought out the right soup about 10 minutes after he took back the wrong soup. When the tortilla soup got to the table it was watery and had very little substance.

Guest number three ordered the famous baby back ribs, with the original sauce. This was the best meal out of the four ordered. Big surprise huh? I ordered the Fried Chicken salad with extra dressing. The dinner came with out the extra dressing, and I reminded the server about it and he said he'd be right back to get it. The portion of the salad was huge, more then I could eat in one setting and I really needed that extra dressing, but that extra dressing never did come.

Once we were done, I was the only one to take home a to-go box with my salad, figured I'd finish it at home where I had extra dressing. When we asked for the check, he instead on dessert a little to much, telling us we HAD to have room for dessert, because we hardly touch our entrees. If he was a good server he would take us not eating as a sign that there was something wrong. We declined dessert, afraid of what might come out if we did order some, and asked for our check. We waited almost 15 minutes for him to bring out our check and then another 15 for him to bring the change. That's 30 minutes he could have had someone else sitting there for him to make more money.

The atmosphere and friendly service gets my vote for this restaurant but beware of the food. If you go stick to the ribs and salad, if you don't want extra dressing, they will be your safest bets.

I ate at the Tony Roma's in Louisville recently and it has really changed! They just remodeled ( said the hostess). It has a whole different look than the last time I was here. Seems to be much cleaner also. They still have the ribs but I was surprised to see all of the new stuuf on the menu compared to the last time I ate their. I had a great experience and the food and service were great. I will definately be going back.
