Tony West Defender of American Taliban Leads DOJ Case Against Arizona
A Deeper Look into Tony West's Radical Affiliations
Tony West is an assistant attorney general in the Civil Division of the DOJ. He was nominated by President Obama in January 2009 and confirmed in April. Prior to earning a spot in Holder's Justice Department and leading the charge against the people of Arizona, Mr. West defended "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh.
Yes, defendants are entitled to the right of counsel.
Who is the American Taliban?
John Walker Lindh was born in 1981, as an adolescent he became devoted to hip-hop music and pretended to be an African-American rapper during online sessions. After viewing the movie Malcolm X by Spike Lee, John Walker Lindh became interested in Islam. In 1997, the white, Catholic, American born citizen converted to Islam; and the rest, as they say, is history.
Before 9/11, Lindh travelled the Islamic circuit abroad and settled in Afghanistan where he assumed the name Sulayman al-Faris and took up arms with the Taliban. He received training at a camp associated with Al-Qaeda and met Osama bin Laden.
The American Taliban was captured in November 2001, during the Battle of Qala-i-Jangi, a violent Taliban prison uprising where American CIA officer Johnny "Mike" Spann was killed.
Tony West, Obama's pick to serve in the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department, was a litigation partner at Morrison & Foerster, LLP San Francisco (MoFo) (MoFo-you couldn't ask for a better acronym); in that capacity West was a strong advocate for the American Taliban soldier and successfully plea bargained a 20-year jail sentence.
It didn't end there; after the conviction, Lindh's lawyers at MoFo headed by West's boss James Brosnahan renewed annual petitions to President Bush to commute Lindh's sentence, not on the grounds of innocence, all parties are in agreement as to the American Taliban's guilt, but purely on the grounds of mercy.
Talk about a lawyer going above and beyond, rare these days unless of course it's a cause one truly believes in.
In January 2009, shortly before Obama nominated Tony West, one of President Bush's final acts in office was to deny Lindh's petition of clemency.
In April 2009, Tony West was confirmed; the American Taliban has a former advocate and champion in today's DOJ.Hope springs eternal.
The Gitmo 9 and al-Qaeda 7
Holder's Justice Dept has a group of lawyers pejoratively dubbed the Gitmo 9, which represents the number of DOJ attorneys that previously advocated on behalf of detainees and terrorists. The number is actually more because it doesn't account for the attorneys not yet disclosed or Eric Holder's senior position in a law firm that represented terrorists.
Previously, Obama's promise of transparency only revealed the names of two attorneys that have advocated on behalf of terrorists prior to joining the DOJ. Repeated requests for disclosure were denied and a group Keep America Safe dubbed the remaining 7 lawyers in Holder's Justice Dept the al-Qaeda 7. The DOJ finally relinquished the list to Fox News; yes, Tony West is on that list.
Tony West has the dubious distinction of being named as a member of the Gitmo 9 and al-Qaeda 7, both inclusive of each other, but can only occur in a Justice Department of an Obamanation.

More Disturbing Background on Tony West
Prior to West's appointment to the DOJ, he was on Barack Obama's presidential campaign and helped raise $65 million.
Tony West is married to Maya Harris who is a former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California and is the vice president for Peace & Social Justice at the Ford Foundation.
Mrs. West wrote, "The Project's priorities are eliminating racial disparities in the criminal justice system and achieving educational equity in California public schools." That was her introduction on Tavis Smiley's Covenant publication.
During a PBS discussion about terrorism, Mr. Smiley claimed Christians engage in terrorism far more often than Muslims. He also thinks the Tea Party is a comparably dangerous force to radical Islam.
The foundation in which Mrs. West is a VP for Peace & Social Justice gave MALDEF $200,000 "for advocacy and litigation to advance the rights of immigrants in the United States."
MALDEF joined the ACLU lawsuit against Arizona before the Obama administration filed suit against the state.

Should Tony West be recused from leading the DOJ case against Arizona?
It doesn't end there; the foundation funded a program to ponder how the Constitution could be amended or otherwise interpreted to prohibit blasphemy against Allah.
Tony West also works for Thomas J. Perrelli in the Justice Department's Civil Right Division; from where the order derived to drop the voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party.
It doesn't end there; Mr. West's sister-in-law, Kamala Harris, is the District Attorney of San Francisco. In that position she has furthered that cities radical position for cementing itself as the nation's premiere sanctuary city.
Not only did Ms. Harris refuse to seek the death penalty for the murderer of Police Officer Isaac Espinoza, she has consistently been soft on criminal illegal aliens.
Tony West's sister-in-law refused to press charges against Edwin Ramos, a criminal illegal alien and member of the MS-13 gang, for possessing a handgun. One month later, Ramos killed three innocent, hard working members of the Bologna family; a father and two sons returning home from a family event.
Kamal Harris refused to seek the death penalty against the criminal illegal alien.
Mrs. Bologna filed an unsuccessful lawsuit against SF, claiming that its sanctuary city policy contributed significantly to her family's deaths.
After the public outcry, SF Mayor Newsom revised his sanctuary city's policy to allow the city to refer undocumented juvenile felons to federal authorities.
Kamala Harris is currently a candidate for California Attorney General and continues to draw the spotlight by inviting criminal illegal immigrants convicted of drug offenses into a taxpayer-supported job training program. How about training Americans to secure jobs, instead of supporting criminal illegal aliens that are technically not allowed to have those jobs?
Yes, Ms. Harris' brother-in-law, Tony West defender of the American Taliban, is the lead attorney in the DOJ case against Arizona.

Post a Commentit shows a pattern of radicals that Obama chooses to surround himself with..it ALL can't be a coincidence Patricia
Well, I think trying to use his sister in law's actions against him is ridiculous, and has nothing to do with it. That being said, I am furious that Pennsylvania has "joined" this lawsuit against Arizona, IMO wasting my tax money. I also think if people would stop lying about what this new law actually says, they would see it's perfectly sensible. Finally, Lindh should have been tried as a traitor and executed.
Sure is a lot to keep an eye on ain't there T?
Good information; you're my doorway for a glimpse of another world!
hmmmm, Lindsay Lohan is feeling persecuted and violated, she probably needs to know about this MoFo :-)
Astute observations Sylvia..but that is actually a mild stance regarding this crowd. "Achieving educational equity" w/ the SF DA's radical record on coddling CRIMINAL illegal aliens..that 'equity' transcends simple dual-language models...
Did she say "achieving educational equity in California public schools?" After breaking out my politician-to-English decoder ring, this translates into a revival of the dual-language learning model. Well, practicing that now with English and Spanish should come in handy when the Taliban set up shop in the US and bring their kids to be educated here (not in English, of course).
Agreed Tyler..and like it says in the piece the defendant has a right to counsel...but it should make us all very uncomfortable that our Justice Dept is top heavy & bloated w/strong volunteer advocates & champions of America's ACTIVE enemies during a time of military conflict. It should also beg the question: Why is Obama making such appointments? I did enough research on Obama to know the answer...I hope my fellow Patriots discover his number as well...
I agree with you on 1070 Tony and of course your criticism of the American Taliban, but we both know if it wasn't West someone would be taking these questionable cases regardless of politics.
"MoFo"? Now that does sound like something I maybe shouldn't repeat. :)
