The report about which I wrote yesterday, SEIU bigwig (or former as no answers are coming to queries) Stephen Lerner lays out plans to bring down first the NYSE then capitalism, is being received lukewarm at best. For the record I am not referring to my readership or page views but instead the general malaise of the public about this news. I am reminded of Einstein who warned "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing."
Of all the things news has ever reported this one seems to me to be a real big deal. It is proof of the desires of some progressives - in their own words mind you - to attempt to force the social and economic change they demand by collapsing our economy. How can anyone be complacent about that? Every person with an IRA, 401, retirement savings or is in the stock market should be screaming at the top of their lungs about this, and completely regardless of their political leanings. Have we reached the point in this nation where run of the mill Democrats favor this as well? If so, I would be shocked to my core.
Stephen Lerner's desires and methods of achieving them are clear - to create another financial collapse akin to the September, 2008 collapse that set the world into recession. I don't care what one desires ideologically...a repeat of the events of late 2008 would cause a ripple and drive this nation into depression, circa 1929. Is there a living soul with a lick of sense who thinks any political, social, economic or ideological desire is worth that? Edmund Burke said "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."
Are radical progressive political wishes worth children starving to death anywhere on Earth? Violence in the streets? The total collapse of our economic system and perhaps our nation? This is where the axiom "Well, it's never happened here before" just flies all over me! Do idiots really believe the US is insulated from such a fate because we are the United States? What about our geography, politics, wealth or society insulates us from the realities of economy? Anyone who believes that is naive and doesn't understand "economic physics."
So, do you have a job? If not are you seeking employment? Do you hope your kids will grow up to be able to get a job? What was one of the most tangible signs of the September, 2008 recession? Unemployment, no? So a repeat of 2008 will see unemployment skyrocket to levels akin to the Great Depression. If banks collapse as Stephen Lerner advocates bringing about, what will that do to one's savings and future prospects? Companies will go belly up and millions more will lose their jobs, if not tens of millions. We are not yet out of the current recession so adding another dose of 2008 will be even worse than the original event.
As the desires of radical progressives are exposed it is more and more clear they hate this nation. They hate us to the point that they seemingly believe us so corrupt we need to be razed to the ground to be fixed. Of course the facts are they just so hate us they want change on a level that requires a total destruction of the current nation to see what they wish for to become any sort of reality.
Think oil is way too high now? Food becoming unaffordable? Jobs scarce? Opportunity slipping from the grasp of citizens trying to make a decent life for themselves? Aren't such efforts on the part of radical progressives dangerous to every American regardless of political, social or economic standing? If ya think the poor are hungry now just wait until food is more unaffordable. And these are the people radical progressives profess such love and concern for? What a load! Clearly all that "social justice" nonsense is just that! If those that forward such sophistry really cared so damned much they would never advocate for anything to be done that would harm anyone, but especially those they profess to be so concerned about.
I don't care what change anyone desires when to get what they wish for a wholesale destruction must manifest in order to facilitate their getting what they want. I mean, I want these radicals to shut the Hell up and go away. Anyone think it's okay if I wish for whatever suits me to see that end? And what if I wanted to harm them to make my desires happen? Is that cool and all? Why do I think I would be vilified and worse for advocating such? Yet if they advocate destroying our nation and harming the lives of scores of millions, well, no big deal, right?
Think it can't happen here? Think our economy can't be collapsed by people with that goal in mind and the wherewithal to make it happen? Think the financial stability of a nation can't be wrought asunder by those with the means and desire to accomplish that very goal? How disconnected can one be to not take such a clear threat to our lives as a serious one?
If radical progressives are successful I hope it is the children of the complacent who have no opportunity. I hope it is the complacent themselves who lose their life savings, retirements and lifestyle. I hope it is their butts in the bread line begging for the food to feed their families. I have no pity on those who were told but were too smart, too cool and too over it all to be bothered. There is little in the world more entertaining to me than to see the arrogant hoist on their own petard. Those who I am describing will get exactly what they deserve and I will care not one whit for their fates. They were warned.
Can't happen here, right? Once again recall Edmund Burke.... "All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing."

Post a CommentHave to admit that I've reached the point where I wonder why I bother writing about politics at all. No one seems to really care. I've actually considered concentrating on celebrity news and entertainment. It seems to be all anyone really wants to read nowadays. But yes, I can definately see your point, Snidely.
Remember what Juvenal said about "bread and circuses"? THAT is the problem with the average American today! They know what to do, and they just won't do it, cuz they might miss one of Snooki's vulgar drunken antics. Enjoy your Doritos and American Idol while you can, dullards!
we need strong leaders and we are a nation full of too many people who have burned away too many brain cells to care what is going on around them
Michele, people can write and call their congressional rep and demand this be investigated, post haste! That is doing something. Believe me, since the lesson of voting for Obamacare while ignoring the public's demands, I think Congress has learned that is a dangerous tactic...to ignore the voters concerns. Flood Congressional offices with emails, calls, letters and concern and watch how fast this gets looked into. As for my leadership, I can't even get readership, so I ain't leading squat toots! Seems a lot of what I say is ignored and has been said before. I doubt too many would line up to piss on me if I were on fire, so no one will take much of what I say too awfully importantly. Que sera, sera! (or sara, sara if one prefers)
If it were easy to understand one's own political ideology, everyone would be doing it. But most folks are only of one persuasion or another because their parents were. They've never really thought it out for themselves. It's the same lack of self-discipline we suffer from in every other area of life, too. Then, we also have those odd pressures to conform coming from friends and family, and people buying into the propaganda choreographed into television and movies. My goodness. People are brain-dead zombies all over. All anyone can do is fight their own self-hypnosis, and hope to lead by example. The biggest problem though, seems to be that none of us really has "the answer." Not one of us. Not even among the power elite.
Whippy, I'm not so sure that so many folks in America are unbelievers or unconcerned - I think folks are just overwhelmed and not sure what to do. We need a strong leader to step up and lead the charge. G'head, you do it! lol cheers
