Too Many Books

Yvonne Leehelen Dowell
I have read many books my whole life, one book said I needed to get, "IT" I didn't know what IT was. Hundreds of books said I needed to know the secret, and the secret was a secret and described in hundreds of books with a different word than secret. I never could find out what the secret was. Hundreds of books said I was okay, in many different interpretations. Hundreds of books said I needed to know the truth. The truth was never known because all the authors have a different truth, some had angels appear to them telling them the truth. Some had teen-agers who knew the truth because God sent them angel with the new truth.I read so many books through the years that said I just need to love myself and once I did this I would " be.' What was I going to be? One book said needed to hum some silly word. At least twenty books said I needed to follow these rules in the books which were all stupid rules. Many books said I needed to find myself I haven't found out yet, where I lost myself. The new books say I need to get in a group and I will be complete. A bunch of books said I needed to get rich to be happy. I have read hundred of books that were supposed to teach me how to be the best salesperson in the world. I was brainwashed into believing I needed to get people to work under me selling a product that was overpriced and after expenses we weren't making 40 percent but 10 cents on a dollar. Another direct selling SCHEME that made someone rich. A lot of books written by rich preachers said God was going to give me everything if I only believed . Many books said my life calling is to go on a mission to another country, I guess they want me to pretend there are not thousands of hungry and homeless people all across every big city in America. There are a lot of good books out there. It is just many of the books that are written aren't that great. Many of them I have read many years ago with different angels, or religions, or get rich book, or different wording, or guru, or secret, or some knowledge, and the answer is not in these books. The best selling book of all time is the Bible. That should tell us something.

You are so right about the Bible. I've never had much confidence in anything else I've read since the first time I was published in a magazine. I thought if I could be published anyone could and obviously you didn't have to know much to be published.
