He: Where the heck are you?
Me: I'm browsing in sheets and towels; where are you?
He: I'm in automotives, but I'm heading for the check out now.
Me: Okay; see you in the car.
or:
Me: They're having a sale at Macy's in second floor Women's.
He: Knock yourself out. I'll be at Brookstone or in the Food Court.
Me: Okay. I plan to stop at the Godiva Store; I'll meet you for lunch in the Food Court near Arby's.
It makes shopping so much easier, to be able to go our separate ways, yet keep in touch by phone.
Then there's at home: Our mobile home is 16 feet wide and 80 feet long (yes, we're trailer trash!) with three bedrooms and two baths as well as kitchen and living room. We've been known to telephone or email each other. (His desktop computer is in the second bedroom; my laptop can be with me in the master bedroom, at one end of the place, or the 3rd bedroom at the other end, or on my lap in my recliner in the livingroom in the center of the house.)
Now before you get too impressed with our adaption to medern technology, I have to confess: It is the result of necessity. I'm totally deaf in one ear, and he's getting a little deaf in both. It beats yelling at the top of our lungs at each other to make sure we're heard!
