A few weeks ago, I was having a few drinks at one of my new favorite club nights in Denver (Lipgloss at La Rumba, we will talk about that place later) and I was outside trying to stay warm as I finished my cigarette when I was approached by a short and attractive woman named Alissa who was in need of a light for her cigarette. She said that she was a former PBR rep and that she just opened her first bar. She was so excited about the place. She gave me her business card and she wrote on the back of it, good for two free drinks. I turned the card over to revel the name...

Alissa and her husband bought the old Baca Room and with a quick remodel the place was open fro business. There was no cover and it's only a few short blocks from my house so last Friday night a friend and I took a walk down to Tooey's off Colfax.

It was shortly after ten and we were having a little trouble at first finding the place( they need a bigger sign, maybe one that lights up) we arrived. Its located right behind Kinga Lounge and The Irish Snug on Colfax if and when you go and cant find the place.

If it wasn't for the bar in the middle of the place it would look more like a art studio with several excellent pieces of local artwork on the walls.

I wasn't expecting to find the gem that I found.

The crowd was a mixture of people all young and friendly and the drinks were cheap. Not only because I had my little free drink card which gave me two free drinks. I didn't even end up using it because it made me fell like a cheapskate. They had a local hip hop band consisting of three friends and they were freakish good, providing good sound for the night. As it got later the tiny place began to fill and shortly become standing room only and no one seemed to mind

After all is said and done the staff at Tooey's is a super cool chill bar with incredibly friendly staff so please stop by after work or on Saturday and have a drink or two.
