Tooth Tunes Means Finally Children Brush Without Cheating. No Nagging Required

One Two Three Four ... Brush Your Teeth and Rock Some More

Lynn Glessner
I like to believe that I am not the only parent instructed by the dentist to make sure that my children are brushing better, and brushing for a full two minutes. I tried, but had only moderate success with a timer placed in the bathroom. I also like to believe that I am not the only parent whose child would be so deceptive as to speed up the timer to make it "ding" in less than two minutes. I tried providing an assortment of brush choices. I tried kid-friendly flavors of toothpaste. I found toothbrushes with various gimmicks, such as brushes that spin, have colors, lights, or are decorated with favorite characters. Nothing seemed to make much difference. There was one thing we hadn't found yet - a toothbrush that played music.

Hasbro has come up with one of those rare truly new good ideas for kids. Hasbro created Tooth Tunes toothbrushes, which play a song for exactly two minutes. There must be pressure on the brush in order to keep the song playing; the more pressure, the louder the volume. The song is still audible to others, such as the parent listening for the joyous sound of teeth being brushed, but uses the jawbone to transfer the sound into the child's ears.

Even my husband (admittedly still a man-child himself) was interested in these new Tooth Tunes brushes. He was hopeful that someone had invented one which was an MP3 player so that he could modify the songs. This is not yet in existence as far as I know, but with the success of Tooth Tunes the iToothbrush is surely inevitable. Each Tooth Tunes toothbrush plays one and only one song. You will become very familiar with this song. However, there is a large assortment available both online at stores like Amazon.com and in local stores such as Target and Wal-mart. Available songs vary from KISS "We Will Rock You" to the pop hits of Cheetah Girls and Hillary Duff.

Dr. Ed McLaren, D.D.S. of the UCLA School of Dentistry also praises Tooth Tunes, stating, "I personally use TOOTH TUNES because it's the only toothbrush I've seen that makes you really want to brush for two minutes. Plus, it encourages better brushing: If you brush well, you get great sound! TOOTH TUNES is the best new product in oral care that I have seen in years."

Other adult sources of praise have come from such unlikely sources as CNN and Rolling Stone Magazine. Since the brushes cost around $10, they are more expensive than a standard toothbrush, but worth trying if you have any concerns your child's dental hygiene habits. (If you don't please contact me. I would like to write another article exposing your your secrets.)
