Toothfairy Movie, Starring the Rock, Looks to Be Good Family Fun

Families Will Enjoy the Toothfairy Movie

If you seen some of "the Rocks", i.e. Dwayne Johnson's recent movies, such as Race to Witch Mountain, you may realize that he has almost been type casted to play along side children in situational comedies. This is actually a good thing as it is something that he is able to pull off quite well. While he followed in his father's, and grandfather's footsteps and became a wrestler after playing college football, he clearly has found his calling as an actor.

He recently starred in Disney's Race to Witch Mountain, as a taxi cab driver trying to help two children with alien powers return home. While Race to Witch Mountain wasn't exactly critically acclaimed, and wasn't exactly a commercial success, it proved that the Rock was able to play straight man to a group of children. His latest project, the Toothfairy is noticeable first for its all-star cast, which includes Julie Andrews and Billy Crystal. If there was a head toothfairy, I couldn't think of anyone better than Julie Andrews to play her.

The plot of the story involves a tough hockey player, played by Johnson, who is a bit of a thug on the hockey rink, and as a punishment is forced to become a tooth fairy. From what the trailer shows the movie appears to be well polished, with an excellent supporting cast. If you like fish out of water family comedies then this is the film for you.

Just one thing struck me about the Toothfairy, it isn't produced by Disney, but rather 20th Century Fox. Surprising because this film has the feel of a classic Disney family film. Nonetheless, the concept appears hilarious on face value, and given that there aren't that many toothfairy movies out there, it isn't a worn out concept. Given that Johnson has been nominated for at least one Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award, Disney would be wise to try to get him to work on more projects for the Mouse.
