Are you a freelance web writer? If so , the last thing on your mind is New Year's Resolutions. .The life of a freelance writer isn't always easy. You may have a million ideas in your head at once. Why not take these ideas and make them into New Yea's resolutions? Here are a few suggestion for New Year's Resolutions for freelance internet writers.

Start Your Own Blog

Make a New Year's resolution to start a blog of your own. New freelance writers tend to overlook the potential of a blog thinking it is a waste of time. Those who pay for your articles earn money constantly from your articles through pay per click. Why not do the same thing? Blogs are also great to show your writing style to potential clients and earn through pay per click.

Find More Clients

Is it possible for a freelance internet writer to have too many clients? You don't want to take on more work than you can manage. However, looking for back-ups won't hurt. Clients and websites come and go. You can't depend on just one of them. Make a New Year's resolution to search for more.

Explore Other Means of Income

You may think you don't have time to explore other means of income. Freelance writing can provide a good income but it may get slow or jobs may get scarce. While you are in between assignments, search ways to earn more income even if not permanent. You can try earning through affiliate programs, paid forum posting, blogging, and get paid sites. Any extra income no matter how little is worth the endeavor.

Keep Accurate Records

Freelance writers seldom work for one client and most are contract writers. Clients usually pay by payment processor or check. The writer likely won't receive a 1099 form. It is your responsibility keeping accurate records for tax purposes. You can obtain tax forms online free.

Expand Beyond the Internet

As a freelance internet writer, you primarily specialize in developing content for websites or marketing purposes. Freelancing online is a popular work at home job because you get paid as twice as fast than print publications. Why not try looking for work offline? Print markets may take awhile to receive compensation but the pay is much better. Check out a Writer's Market book or literary magazines.

Freelance writers may find themselves too busy to read but should make time. Writers can benefit from reading. Reading improves vocabulary and knowledge. It may save time writing an article in the future. Reading not only gives you ideas but you are able to sample various styles of writing.

Save for Taxes

Here is an all-important New Year's resolution. Freelance writers generally don't have taxes taken out of their income. You will probably owe the IRS. It is wise to save a little along for this purpose so you won't get stuck with late fees.

Improve Spelling and Grammar

There isn't a writer who couldn't benefit from an improvement in grammar and spelling. Articles with grammar and spelling mistakes will most likely get rejected and make you look bad. Don't assume you know everything about grammar and style. You can find free courses online to better your grammar.

Buy a Notebook

A freelance writer shouldn't be without a notebook and pen. Ideas can come at the strangest times and you wouldn't want to be without a notebook. An idea can come when you are driving, waiting in line, or even sleeping. Don't trust your memory.

Exercise

Getting in shape is a popular New Year's resolution. A freelance internet writer especially needs physical exercise. Exercise increases blood circulation and stimulates the brain. Your mind will work better. There are plenty of ways to sneak in exercise. Walk instead of driving short distances. Use stairs instead of the elevator. Schedule at least 15-20 minutes of physical activity.
