Famous Hollywood Actors Who Have Won a Golden Raspberry Award

America loves winners. We as a nation honor Olympic champions by placing them on covers of magazines and Wheaties boxes. We also love to see our movie, T.V., and recording stars dress up and walk the red carpets to collect an award for their latest effort. Yet as a nation, there are times we love to hate just as much, or if not hate, at least express our strong displeasure for what those things that fall short of our expectations. Under that last categories are the Razzies (the Golden Raspberry Awards), the awards annual presented for those bombs and turkeys of movie world. Created by life-long cynic John Wilson in 1980, the award itself is a gold painted raspberry that sits appropriately atop of a Super 8 reel of film. To honor the 30th Anniversary of the Award, here is a list of the top 10 Actors who have won a Razzie Award.

Sylvester Stallone

While he may have been a box office hit through most of the 80's, Stallone has been the proud recipient of 4 Worst Actors awards over the years. A three time winner in the 80's, Stallone collected Razzies in 1984 (Rhinstone), 1985 (Rambo: First Blood Part 2; Rocky IV) and 1988 (Rambo III). Not to be forgotten in the 90's, the Academy Award winner also received one in 1992 for "Stop or My Mom will Shoot." As if that wasn't enough, Stallone has also been nominated for most of his works including such movies as Cobra, Daylight and Over the Top.

Kevin Costner

The fact that he failed to produce a British accent for his role as Robin Hood is only one of the reason's that Kevin Costner has been honored with a Razzie. In fact, If the 80's belonged to Stallone, Costner dominated the 90's, winning Worst Actor in 1992 (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves), 1994 (Wyatt Earp) and 1997 (Postman). Amazingly enough he did not win for Waterworld, though he did get nominated for the high budgeted failure.

Ben Affleck

When it comes to the Razzies, Ben Affleck's work in 2003 and 2004 is the stuff legends are made of. Ben's easily out distanced his competitors in 2003 for his work in Daredevil, Gigli and Paycheck. In 2004, Affleck was back with nominations for Jersey Girl and Surviving Christmas. To be fair though, Affleck has been one of the few actors gracious enough to accept his award.

Bruce Willis

Like Affleck in 2003, Bruce Willis' work in 1998 had no equal. That year the beloved Die Hard actor won for his role in Armageddon, Mercury Rising and The Siege. Amazingly enough, Willis did not receive a nominations the year before for The Fifth Element.

John Travolta

Though Travolta resurrected his career in 1994 with his work in Pulp Fiction, the famed actor could not escape a Razzie for his work in Battlefield Earth and Lucky Numbers in 2000. Interesting enough the versatile actor had first appeared in the list of nominees for his 1983 effort in Staying Alive and Two of a Kind.

Bill Cosby

Clearly showing that the Razzies are no respecter of fame, fortune or past glory, Bill Cosby took home the award in 1987 for his train wreck performance in Leonard Part 6. Of course his public denouncement of the film itself spoke volumes for his win, especially since he wrote and produce the turkey.

Laurence Olivier

Fourteen Oscar nominations and a pair of wins were not enough to keep Laurence Olivier from winning in 1982 for Inchon, a movie based on a Korean War battle of the same name. Though to be fair to Olivier, he shared the screen with such notable actors and actress as Toshiro Mifune, and Jacqueline Bisset.

William Shatner

Though it is common knowledge that William Shatner's acting abilities have been a source of ridicule over the years, the Razzies waited until 1989 to endow the actor an award for Worst Actor. Shatner was honored for his role of Captain Kirk for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

Eddie Murphy

Bypassed for the award for The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Eddie Murphy finally took home the dubious honor for Norbit in 2007. It must be noted though that the award went to Murphy for his portrait of Norbit alone, and not for any of the multiple characters he also played in the movie.

Mike Myers

Though often his movies are box office gold (think Shrek and Austin Power movies), Mike Myers took home the 2008 Worst Actor award for The Love Guru. The movie which had been predicted to be a hit, was a box office bomb that cost more than it took in during its theatrical release.
