If you're a history buff and you're looking to experience the old time living in some great hotels across the U.S., you'll want to visit some of the top 10 most historic hotels around. With characteristics ranging from ghost hunting, to sitting in the luxuries of the late 1800's, there is so much to see and do in and around these wonderful hotels.

1. Concords Colonial Inn, Concord MA- Concord, MA which is one of the most historical towns in the US owns this beautiful Colonial Inn which has been situated in Concord since 1716. IT was common to see Ralph Waldo Emerson, Louisa May Alcott, Henry David Thoreau and Nathaniel Hawthorn strolling through this town when the hotel first opened. One of the most unique features of this hotel is that one of the guest rooms is famous for ghost sightings of a woman wearing braids and floating through the room. The rates for the hotel range from $165 - $225.00.

2. Hawthorne Hotel, Salem MA- If you are looking for a real taste of history, you've found the town in Massachusetts that is known for its historical Witch Museums and House of Seven Gables. The hotel was inspired by civic pride and is definitely a top sightseeing venue in the historical town. The property was opened in 1925 and currently has a nightly rate of $137- $204.

3. The Mulberry Inn, Savannah GA - If you're looking for the horse and carriage type hotel, this is the hotel you've been searching for. The Mulberry In holds all of the Southern charm and old traditions. While also meeting with current travelers needs, they also have a sense of stepping back into time. The hotel is located in the center of Savannah and is surrounded by mansions, riverfront views and public square. The hotel was originally built in 1860 and has a nightly rate of $129 - $269.

4. The Hermitage Hotel, Nashville TN - This hotel is located in the center of Music city and is adjacent to the state capital. This hotel is a restoration of the original Hermitage Hotel and it holds a combination of convenience and beauty. The original property was built in 1910 and currently holds a nightly rate of $299 - $2,000.

5. Le Pavilion hotel, New Orleans LA - For the true history of New Orleans, this hotel is one of the greatest plantation homes in the area. The hotel was built in 1907 and will really give you the feel of the old history that New Orleans has to offer. With marble floors and illuminating antiques, it's a hotel you won't want to miss in New Orleans. The best part of this hotel is the complimentary peanut butter sandwiches are served nightly in the lobby of the hotel. The nightly rates range from $125 to $1,695.

6. The Battle House Renaissance, Mobile AL- The Battle House was originally built in 1852 and is located in downtown of Mobile. The hotel is settled near the riverfront and Mobile's convention center. The hotel was originally built on the site of a military headquarters during the war of 1812. The property was actually used as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War. This property ranging from $159 for a single room to $2500 a night for a specialty suite.

7. The Tremont House, Galveston TX - The Tremont House represents the vision of a Victorian house with old time hospitality. The house sports a four story atrium with beautiful artwork. The House holds 119 guest rooms which includes 15 suites. The house is nicely located in the center of many shops, restaurants, art galleries and other historic attractions. The original Tremont House was burnt down in 1865 and then re-built in 1872. The nightly rates range from $109 - $650 a night.

8. Napa River Inn, Napa CA - The Napa River Inn is an upscale hotel which offers the traditional amenities and convenience for the everyday traveler. The Hotel is surrounded by vineyards and breathtaking scenery right in the center of Napa Valley. This Inn only has 66 guest rooms which many come with a fireplace and a balcony. Some amenities that this historical hotel has to offer that most don't are the Venetian gondola rides and a European day spa. The Inn was built in 1886 which was known for its built in skating ring. The rate for this hotel is $179 - $499 a night.

9. Mayflower Park Hotel, Seattle WA - This hotel was built in 1927 and was actually opened with the name of the Bergonian, and is the oldest operating hotel in the Seattle area. The decorative nature in this hotel still has the same looks as it did in the late 1920's. The hotel is filled with high ceilings and stained-glass windows. Although this is the most historic hotel in Seattle, it still offers all of the modern amenities that all guests are currently used to. . The rates ranged from $146 for a single occupancy to $350 for a suite.

10. Island House Hotel, Mackinac Island MI - This hotel has been named as a themed hotel holding on to much of the last century's designs. Walking into this hotel is a lot like walking back into time. This island prohibits any motor vehicle, so walking, biking and horseback are the only forms of transportation. The property was originally founded in 1852 and has a nightly rate of $155 for a traditional hotel room, to $600 a night for a Suite.
