Top 10 Associated Content Articles of 2006

Pam Gaulin
These are the articles you wish you'd written.

The top 10 articles on Associated Content are not based on page views, on ratings, or on Content Producer popularity. They are based on the articles that make other writers slap their foreheads in a V-8 fashion and say, "I should have thought of that!"

Or they are the Associated Content articles that touch you in some way. Have you read any articles this year that stuck with you? Perhaps they made you laugh, or made you aware of an important issue, or maybe the article is educational, or maybe it's just a great piece of writing.

Just because you're not on the list does not mean you're not the tops! (Apologies in advance to anyone not on the list.) This was a very difficult task.

These are the articles that I found to be must-reads in 2006. Companion top 10 lists encouraged!

Top 10 Associated Content Articles in 2006

10. The Best Lost Theory You Haven't Heard Yet by Jason Lindholm. The great headline and the interesting theories make this entertainment article one of the top 10 Associated Content articles in 2006.

9. Weird Health News: Doggy Testicular Implants are the Balls! by M. M. Lyons. M.M. is known for her informative health articles and as an ambassador of peace on the forums. The article on dog ball implants is one of the top 10 Associated Content Articles in 2006 because it is just so bizarre it seems unreal.

8. Warning Signs and Symptoms of Internet Addiction by Michelle L. Devon. Content Producer Michelle L. Devon does not sleep, if you haven't noticed and spends a lot of time online: writing, and sharing information and encouragement with other writers.

If you never log off, you might want to check this top Associated Content articles of 2006. It makes the list because it is so pertinent in a world where we spend more time tapping away at our keyboards than doing anything else, including sleeping. There may be someone you know who needs to read this article.

7. Life as a Wal-Mart Employee
by Lee Andrew. An insightful look into working for the discount retailer that everyone loves to hate, but can't help shopping there. Lee has become a popular Associated Content Producer for a reason. There are even two spotlights about him here on AC.

6. Top Ten New Years Resolutions for Tom, the Face of MySpace by Judith Blakley. Who else is more known and yet still unknown? You know you wish you'd thought of writing this article, which is why it makes the top 10 Associated Content articles of 2006 list.

5. Underestimating the Severity of Paxil Withdrawal: Important Information About SSRI's by Dom Coccaro. While it may not explain his obsession with the undead and horror films, Dom's article certainly opened our eyes to the 'wonderful' world of Paxil.

4. Make a Living Writing for Associated Content by Amy Brantley. Amy can do it, and so can't you. Content Producers flocked to this article for its solid information and received the best gift of all: inspiration.

3. Bagged Salad: E. Coli Threat by S. Thompson. Maybe it depends on where you live, and the kind of news coverage this story received, but this was the first place I read about bagged salad and its potential health hazards. Even now, it seems unknown by most people, and I feel like posting it in the produce section of every grocery store I know. Because of the importance of this article and its broad appeal, it makes the top 10 Associated Content articles of 2006 list.

2. When Veteran's Day is Personal by the Barefoot. While theBarefoot is mostly known for his humorous pieces, this AC article hit home with many readers, making it one of the top 10 Associated Content articles of 2006

1.Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom by Heather Michelle. With boldfaced truths, Heather Michelle told us the way it is. I found myself nodding in agreement while reading it.

Confessions was very popular, and a great article, it also had the power to inspire. Confessions spawned a series of articles on AC including More Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom by dreahwrites, and Confessions of an AC Content Producer by Amy Francisco.

Apparently, a challenge was set forth on the forums and Rose Hunt wrote My Dirty Little AC Content Producer Secrets. It was then followed by Confessions of an AC Content Producer 3: The Dirtiest Secrets by theBarefoot. Have you written your confessions yet?

So there you have it, the Top 10 Associated Content Articles of 2006. Let's make 2007 just as informative and entertaining!
