This English actress begin acting on British television and her first major film role was in Heavenly Creatures. Kate is probably most well known for her role as Rose in the Titanic movie. She has been nominated for 6 Oscars and won for best actress in a leading role for her portrayal of Hanna Schmitz in The Reader. She is one of my favorites because of her range. Kate has played everything from a crazed teen to a war criminal.

Cate Blanchett

Best know for her performance in Elizabeth, Cate is regarded as one of the best actresses from a foreign country. This Australian actresses credits include Babel and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She won an Oscar for her performance in The Aviator, also starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Charlize Theron

A dancer turned actress Charlize is originally from South Africa. This beautiful actress won an Oscar for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster. This role really showed her depth as an actress because it was shockingly different from any role she has ever played.

Helen Mirren

English actress Helen Mirren has appeared in many great movies and television productions. My favorite role for her is Jane Tennison, the brilliant alcoholic police detective from the Prime Suspect series. She won an Oscar in 2006 for her performance in The Queen.

Kate Beckinsale

Yet another English actress makes my top 10 best female actresses from a foreign country list. Kate has played everything from a werewolf killing vampire in Underworld, to the title character in Emma, based on the novel by Jane Austen. I love that she can pull off the lead role in an action adventure and a more serious role in a period movie.

Toni Collette

My favorite film which starred Australian actress Toni Collette is Muriel's Wedding. She portrays an Abba loving, lonely, young women who struggles to find herself and true love. Another great movie that she was in is The Sixth Sense. Toni was nominated for an Oscar for her performance as the mother of a little boy who can see dead people. She always gives a solid performance and I look forward to seeing her in more films.
