10. Conway Twitty is well known for his sultry voice and his many love songs. In the 70s he did a few duets with the great Loretta Lynn, which made his popular albums even more so. Twitty had many number one albums and singles to mark his success in the music field.

9. Marty Robbins was a great story teller, painting the scenes for numerous country settings. His albums from the 70s include El Paso, You Gave Me A Mountain and My Woman, My Woman, My Wife. Robbins could sing lovely love ballads as well as tales of the old west. He was one of the great "story telling artists" from this genre.

8. Waylon Jennings debuted in the seventies, with hit after hit. Teaming up with Willie Nelson didn't hurt things at all. The two belted out hits like (Mommas), Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys and Good Hearted Woman.

7. It was a good decade for Mr. John Denver. He ended up with three slots on this top 10 list. His album, Rocky Mountain High, debuted in 1972 and was #99 in the top 100 albums for the 70s. You will find more about this great man further in the top 10.
