Top 10 Best Songs to Sing to in "SingStar" for Playstation 3

Rochelle Connery
SingStar for Playstation 3 is without a doubt the best karaoke-esque video game ever. No dorky instruments to cope with like in Rock Band or Guitar Hero, and no need for singing lessons. You control how much of the real singer's voice you hear behind yours (just as backup, of course - *wink wink*) and you get to watch the official music video while you sing.

But not all the songs on SingStar are user-friendly. I've paged through mine many times scratching my head wondering, how did these songs get picked? They're terrible!

That's why I've outlined some of the best songs on SingStar for guys and girls alike. They're singable, recognizable, and fun to rock out to - even if you look absolutely ridiculous in doing so.

Paramore - Crushcrushcrush

Doesn't matter what your opinion of Paramore is - "Crushcrushcrush" is a great song for any voice range. No notes that are too low or too high, and you don't have to contend with epic vocals like Celine Dion's.

Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

You think Natasha goes high in her song? Not really. Try singing to it once, and you'll realize it's probably right in your voice range. You'll sound like the Scottish songstress Natasha is in no time flat.

Weezer - Beverly Hills

Weezer goes to Playboy Mansion to film their anti-Hollywood song, "Beverly Hills." But not to worry, parents. There's nothing worse than PG in this video, despite the fact it features Hugh Hefner himself and a few Playboy playmates. And best yet? You can be tone deaf and still sound okay singing this song, since Weezer's vocals aren't impressive by any stretch of the imagination.

The Mamas and Papas - California Dreamin'

This is a great duet for a man and a woman. Sure, it's old as the hills and the music video features clothing styles that are absolutely cringe-worthy, but it's a great song nonetheless. Crank up the volume and you'll sound like a 60s hippie in no time.

Elton John and Kiki Dee - Don't Go Breakin' My Heart

Another perfect duet for a guy and a girl, this super-melodic hit will have you singing it over and over again as soon as you hit your first high score. This song is longer than some of the others, so if you need to accrue some points to help your overall score, singing this song will help you do just that.

Eminem - Without Me

Some of the lyrics are a little sketchy in this one, but if you've always aspired to be world's next whiter-than-white rapper, practice with a little Marshall Mathers. Any bad words usually get bleeped or half-muted, so you don't have to sing anything offensive if you don't feel comfortable doing so.

P!nk - Just Like a Pill

If you don't mind watching P!nk writhe around in dominatrix clothes, you'll enjoy singing this little-known P!nk hit, which starts off a little scratchy with a nearly undefined melody line. But the pre-chorus kicks it into gear and makes the chorus seem that much better. But if there's little kids around, you might want to make them shut their eyes, as some of the scenes in the music video are a little PG-13.

Rise Against - Prayer of the Refugee

I sing this one every time I play SingStar. It's the only really rocking hit on the game, so you can bet it gets overplayed at my house. It's a little hard for females to reach the low notes in the beginning of each verse, but the rest is smooth sailing.

Panic! At the Disco - Nine in the Afternoon

You'd think you were watching a Beatles music video and listening to their music, too, if you're not familiar with this Panic! At the Disco tune. But it's pretty fun to sing - and definitely a weird trip to watch - but it's pretty safe for all eyes and ears, and you don't have to be Tom Jones to hit the notes, so it's an easy melody to belt out.

Gavin DeGraw - I'm in Love with a Girl

Okay, so this one's a little weird to sing as a girl. But you can replace most of the "girl" words with "boy" words and make it work for either gender.
