Top 10 Best Vehicles from the G. I. Joe Toyline

Lee Andrew Henderson
G. I Joe was one of the most popular franchises of the 1980s. Not only was G. I. Joe a popular television series but it was an extremely popular toy line. This version of G. I. Joe had 3 ¾ inch figures instead of the previous 12 inch figures so the figures were not very large. Due to the small size one of the big selling points for the toys were the vehicles that could be bought separately. The following vehicles were the best of the G. I. Joe toy line.

Honorable Mention - G. I. Joe Bridge Layer
The Bridge Layer is like the "Plan 9 From Outer Space" of GI Joe vehicles. The Bridge Layer is incredibly stupid but so awesome all at the same time. What are the chances of you ever running into a gap in land that requires a vehicle to provide its own bridge? Not often, but you'll be sorry when you do.

10) Serpentor's Chariot
Serpentor never reached the popularity of Cobra Commander or Destro but Serpentor did gain a certain amount of popularity for being Cobra's new leader. Serpentor was one of the few GI Joes that had their own individual vehicle.

9) G. I. Joe Mobat
The G. I. Joe Mobat was basically just a normal looking tank but they didn't need to change anything. Every young boy loves a tank.

8) Cobra Hiss
The Cobra Hiss was the tank that the Cobra used. Cobra's tank were taller and bigger than the GI Joe tanks. They just had a look that was more enticing to the child and the Cobra Hiss was a blue color instead of that army green.

7) G. I. Joe Killer Whale
As the song goes G. I. Joe will be there over land, sea and air. Well in order to save the day on the water the G. I. Joe team needed the Killer Whale. The Killer Whale was G. I. Joe's hovercraft used for fighting those snakes hiding in the water.

6) G. I. Joe Tomahawk
G. I. Joe's Tomahawk was cool because it looked cool, it was a helicopter (instead of a jet like most G. I. Joe air vehicles) and the Tomahawk made its debut in the original G. I. Joe animated movie.

5) G. I. Joe Skystriker XP-14F
The Skystriker XP-14F is perhaps the most common GI Joe vehicle in the cartoon. They are the classic jets that are almost always seen either on the base or on the aircraft carrier and are also the most commonly used vehicle of the GI Joe squad.

4) Dreadnoks Thunder Machine
The Dreadnoks Thunder Machine was one of the few GI Joe vehicles that I owned myself so it holds a special place in my heart. The Thunder Machine has guns mounted on it, it had a cool name and it belonged to the bad guys (which instantly made it cooler).

3) Cobra Night Raven
The main reason the Cobra Night Raven makes the top three is just because it looked cool. In the first season of GI Joe most of the vehicles were bright colors that would get the attention of children. Then the second season starts Cobra has these sleek black jets.

2) Cobra Rattler
Even though the Night Raven looks awesome the Cobra Rattler is still the classic Cobra vehicle. The Rattler was different from GI Joe's planes because they had wings that could flip up to a 90 degree angle so that the engines would allow the plane to move vertically and not just horizontally.

1) G. I. Joe USS Flagg
The GI Joe USS Flagg was special when I was a child because it was a pipe dream more anything. Everybody heard how large the USS Flagg but we had never seen it. The USS Flagg was a mythical creature. Girls had their unicorn and boys had the USS Fllagg.
