Top 10 Celebrity Break Ups for 2006

Bonnie Creevy
2006 marked a busy year for gossip columns. One of the most talked about topics this year was all the divorce. It seems like suddenly, everyone in Hollywood is breaking up. Here are the top 10 celebrity break ups for 2006.

1. Penelope Cruz and Matthew McConaughey
In June, they announced that they were taking time off as a couple due to busy work schedules and time apart. I must admit that this is one couple I would have liked to have seen stay together.

2. Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro
They announced in June that they were officially filing for divorce. The couple had been married 2 ½ years. They were married in 2003 and even had a reality show on MTV, Till Death Do Us Part, documenting the wedding. This is another couple that really seemed made for each other so it was a bit of a surprise to hear of their split.

3. Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson
After six years of marriage, Kate and rocker hubby Chris have called it quits. They have a two year old son together and seemed perfectly happy. Their have been rumors and pictures connecting their break up to an affair between Kate and Owen Wilson but Kate denies the allegations.

4. Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong
These two seemed like the perfect couple and were, in fact, engaged until they decided to call of their engagement in February.

5. SirPaul McCartney and Heather Mills
They officially separated in May and began talk of divorce just after. At first the split up seemed amicable but quickly turned ugly when Heather declined his settlement offer reportedly going out for more money. She has often been labeled as a gold digger which Paul always denied, but he seems to have changed his mind since the split.

6. Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughn
This couple have been off again and on again for quite some time. They did manage to spend more than a year together but it looks as if they have now finally split for good. The split seems to be mutual and they remain friends. It's kind of a shame though, after her ordeal with split from ex-hubby Brad Pitt, I think we were all hoping for some happiness for Jen.

7. Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora
After eleven years of marriage, heather Locklear has filed for divorce from Bon Jovi guitarist, Richie Sambora. This was one marriage I was sure was going to last forever. But I guess in Hollywood, forever is about a decade. Rumors have been flying around about their split up. It seems that Heather's good friends Denise Richards had an affair with Richie.

8. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe
These two were probably the cutest, young wed actors in Hollywood. They had been married seven years and have two children and have always seemed so happy. But they announced the end of their marriage in October.

9. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock
These two were married a whopping four months before announcing the end of their relationship claiming irreconcilable differences. Their relationship has been pretty rocky from the start though they had been together off and on for several years.

10. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
Out of all of the sad break ups throughout Hollywood, this split is probably the most celebrated! For such an unlikely couple, I think most of us have been wondering how they lasted so long in the first place. They have 2 children together and K-Fed has a couple kids from a previous relationship. He seems to be pretty good and fathering kids; I wonder how good he will be at supporting them with his music career quickly going down the tubes. Since the split, Britney has been seen out partying often and showing us a little more than she should in certain pictures! I think we were all just hoping to get the old Britney back. I guess times are changing!
